What I read in 2022

Reading is my absolute favourite thing to do. If I had my way, I would have a lot more spare time and I would spend all of it reading. Not watching TV, not scrolling social media, just reading books.

After a good year of reading in 2021, 2022 looked set to be another one. I started my third book of the year on 6th January. But thanks to it being a VERY long book, having a lot of work on and a new puppy, I was still reading it nearly a month later. Maybe I wouldn’t read as much in 2022?

I got Covid in June and spent six days in isolation, reading three entire books in that time, which helped to get my reading back on track. I then read six books and started a seventh in July.

I got through about four books per month through August, September and October. Then my reading slowed down a bit in November when I had a lot of work on.

So what did I read in 2022?

That is a total of 48 books for the year, which is the exact same number I read in 2021 and more than I read in previous years.

I read some really good books in 2022 and it was very hard to pick my favourites. Genuinely, nearly half of these could have made my favourite reads list. If you want to know which books came close, check out my Favourite books board on Pinterest.

But after a lot of deliberation, I decided that my favourite books of 2022 were:

  • The Ink Black Heart
  • Lessons in Chemistry
  • Still Life
  • Daughters of Night
  • The Last Party
