Covid-19: ‘I never felt ill’

It’s been three months since my dad came out of hospital after a month with Covid-19, including time spent on a ventilator. Since then, he has made a remarkable recovery. Within about six weeks, you would never have guessed he’d been ill. He’s got no long Covid. No depression or PTSD. It is incredible. For me, I still get a couple of flashbacks a week to things that happened when he was in hospital. These memories...

Grandad’s story: World War II

A few months ago, my mum gave me some writing from my uncle, all about my Grandad – partly my uncle’s own memories and partly family history research. He actually only ran five times in 2016 and then had a three...

My dad’s 50th parkrun

My dad had never run before. He’s fit and healthy, but he didn’t specifically do any exercise. He’s slim with a good, balanced diet and still volunteers at a charity one day a week. He was 71 when he did his first parkrun, back in August 2016. At first, he walked with my mum. At that time, nobody else walked parkrun and my parents felt a bit awkward. (Now walking at parkrun is something which is positively...
