I certainly was a pedestrian! We have two level crossings close to home, so I spend a lot of time waiting for trains.
We used to live near these crossings and much as the kids loved seeing the trains, they used to drive me insane as the gates go down sooooo early
Oh yes! Local journeys can take a really long time for us sometimes because of the level crossings. The record is waiting for five trains.
I’m always slightly paranoid crossing these crossings even when the gate is open!

Yes, the novelty does wear off when you’re in a hurry. I like to see them at other times though.
