So now we’re out of January, which means I have to start doing maths to work out what day of the year it is! I quite like February because the days are definitely getting lighter and the end of the winter is in sight. And I am SO FED UP of the cold. I think it’s down to being indoors on my own all the time in the day. I feel cold permanently.
So here’s our week in pictures…
Day 32 – Sunday 1st February – it was a freezing morning at rugby, so I took this unflattering selfie to prove just how cold it was.
Day 33 – Monday 2nd February – this is my beautiful daughter practising her violin in her favourite Cath Kidston pyjamas. Her hair is all big and wild after she put it into two tight plaits when it was damp and she’s wearing a flower in it, which is for her ballet show next month.
Day 34 – Tuesday 3rd February – we woke up to a light dusting of snow. It was ‘all’ gone by 12pm.
Day 35 – Wednesday 4th February – I love this artwork my younger son did for his homework. It took him ages and is his name in Mayan.
Day 36 – Thursday 5th February – another day, another selfie of me looking (and feeling!) really cold. The thermostat showed 15 degrees and I put my hat on to work at home!
Day 37 – Friday 6th February – another cold and frosty morning. It’s very beautiful, but I am so fed up of being cold now!
Day 38 – Saturday 7th February – my eldest went off on a night hike with Scouts. I’m hoping this is enough food for tea and snacks for a 13 year old boy walking 12 miles in the cold!

love the cath kidston pjs!! your sons artwork is fab, you can see the effort that has gone into it. heres hoping it warms up next week!! xx
February 7, 2015
Oh yes, bring on the warmer weather! Thanks, I love those pyjamas! My son doesn’t often do art, so I was very impressed with that! x
February 7, 2015
I think that’s a lovely photo of you. Your sons art work is fab and I love the snow and frost covered pics x
February 7, 2015
Thanks very much! I quite like the pic of me with the thermostat, but not the one of me at rugby! I was very impressed with my son’s art 🙂 x
February 7, 2015
I’m with you, I flipping hate this cold weather! Love the photo of your daughter practicing her violin #365
February 7, 2015
Thank you! That’s definitely my favourite photo this week 🙂 I’m usually not too bad with cold weather, even though I dislike it, but this year it’s really getting to me!
February 7, 2015
Haha we have two similar photos this week! I love your girl’s Jim jams! You are a committed rugby mum 😉
February 7, 2015
Good old snow and frost – they make good pics! I love those pyjamas too! At this time of year it’s not a lot of fun being a rugby mum, but it has to be don!
February 7, 2015
Great artwork by your son. Love the colourful PJs! It’s cold in our house as well when I turn the heating down, I am so dreading the heating bill, it will be atrocious, but otherwise our old house feels like a mausoleum.
February 7, 2015
Brr! Don’t like the sound of that! This house actually stays a lot warmer than our old one, but it still gets pretty chilly in this weather when the heating is off! I was very impressed by my son’s artwork as he doesn’t usually do any art!
February 7, 2015
My goodness you look freezing in those photos! I love your girls pyjamas and how her hairband matches them. Hope it warms up for you 🙂 #365
February 7, 2015
Yes, I really was very cold! I’m definitely ready for some warmer weather! Those pyjamas were definitely a good choice – she loves them!
February 7, 2015
Love your son’s artwork. I saw your tweet about not putting the heating on when you are on your own. I think you are very brave, I will say I’m cold and my house will be 21.5!
February 7, 2015
Wow! I would definitely be too hot with that! Our old house was very cold, so I’ve got used to the cold, although I would definitely like it 17 or 18 degrees rather than 15!
February 7, 2015
I am completely with you on being cold, I’ve definitely had enough of it! Love your dusting of snow, and frosty leaf. Gorgeous photo of your daughter x
February 8, 2015
Thanks very much! I really like that pic of my daughter 🙂 Your cold is on a whole different level! I don’t know how you cope!
February 8, 2015
It has been really bitter this week hasn’t it! We got slightly more snow than you but it was also gone by lunchtime – fingers crossed we get some more as the kids loved it
February 8, 2015
Oh yes, I’d like to see more snow! I can’t see it happening, though. I’d be happy with warmer, spring-like weather.
February 8, 2015
I love the photo of the leaf and your son’s artwork is amazing. Totally with you on how cold it has been, I think I’ve had the heating on pretty much all week.
February 8, 2015
Thanks very much, I was so impressed with my son’s artwork. Very sensible of you to have the heating on!
February 8, 2015
Im fed up of the cold too! Enough already!! Love the p’s, we have a couple of Cath Kidston dressing gowns here, so cute. Your son’s artwork is lovely, how cool to have his name in Mayan. Stay warm!
February 8, 2015
Thanks very much, I was impressed with how he worked his name out. I love my daughter’s pyjamas too 🙂
February 8, 2015
It does look like quite a cold week all round! I love your little ones pyjamas! #365
February 8, 2015
It definitely has been a cold one! I’m all ready for spring now!
February 8, 2015
Oh hon the first selfie really conveys how fed up you are with the cold! Not long now until the clocks go forward and hopefully Spring comes into our lives 🙂
February 8, 2015
Bring it on! I can’t wait for the spring now. Thanks very much.
February 8, 2015
Gosh, you do look cold! I love your daughters PJ’s! They are awesome. My bus mad youngest would love them! 😉
February 8, 2015
Thank you! I love the PJs too 🙂
February 8, 2015
Love your girls pyjamas, I wonder if they do an adult size! Well done to your big boy on completing his hike. What a brilliant achievment!
February 9, 2015
Thank you! They certainly do a handbag in the pyjama design because I have it! Am really proud of my boy for his hike 🙂
February 8, 2015
I totally agree it has been a cold one! roll on Spring I say :),
Lovely capture of your daughter playing her Violin (a Musician in the making) 🙂
February 9, 2015
Thank you! I must say the picture of my daughter playing violin was my favourite this week 🙂
February 8, 2015
You look as cold as I have been all week. I can’t wait for spring to arrive
February 9, 2015
Me neither! It’s just not funny, is it?
February 8, 2015
Oh Sarah this did make me smile .. i have often been found wearing a hat while working from home lol .. i do love your daughters PJ’s x
February 9, 2015
Thanks! Glad it’s not just me that resorts to the hat at home! I’ve only done it a couple of times, but I must say it really helps! x
February 8, 2015
I hate this cold weather….I’ve given up trying to brave it out and the heating is being used a lot….lol
Fab photos! Hope your boy didn’t run out of food on the walk…hehehe
February 10, 2015
To be honest, I might have caved on the heating last week, but the controls are in the garage and there was still piled up everywhere in there – I couldn’t reach! The stuff has now been removed! Apparently my boy had to eat his emergency rations too – 100g bar of chocolate! How could he need all that?!
February 8, 2015
Just a wonderful capture of your daughter playing the violin with the hair, pjs and clear concentration. Not surprised you were proud of your son’s drawing – very cool that it’s in Mayan – and great shot of the frosty leaf.
February 10, 2015
Thank you! I sneaked up on my daughter – otherwise she would tell me off! My son has been studying the Mayans. I was very impressed by how much time he put into that – he doesn’t normally bother much with art.
February 8, 2015
What talented children you have! I’ve yet to see mine pick up an instrument so was impressed by your daughter playing the violin. Your son’s obviously got a natural talent too with drawing! And Sarah I do feel your chilly pain, though I’m afraid I’ve been more stuff the planet and the bills, heating was invented for a reason! Roll on spring! #365
February 10, 2015
Thanks very much! You’ve got an excuse to put your heating on with a baby in the house. I might have caved if it wasn’t for the fact I couldn’t actually get to it due to clutter in the garage! I was impressed with my boy’s drawing as he doesn’t usually bother with art.
February 9, 2015
I don’t think I could cope with it being 15 degrees in here. Ours is set at 21 and it’s staying there!
Love your son’s artwork, it’s excellent 🙂
February 10, 2015
Wow, 21 degrees is too hot for me! Having lived in cold houses all my adult life, I’m fine with 18 degrees. Thanks, I was really pleased with my son’s art 🙂
February 9, 2015
Me neither! (Well, I hope I won’t be, anyway!) I’m so ready for spring.
February 11, 2015
There’s a cold feel to your pictures this week with that snow/frost and talk of night hikes. Love those PJs – I can see why they are favourites.
February 14, 2015
I have our thermostat set at 18 degrees. I had to wear my hat in work a few weeks ago as the air con had stuck on cold!!
Talk of night hikes took me back to when my oldest boy used to be in the scouts. He used to think it was very grown up being out at night.
