Week 2 of project 365 and back to normality! Although I wasn’t looking forward to it, I must say I’ve enjoyed the kids being back at school and the return to peace and tranquility at home.
So here’s our week in pictures…
Day 4 – Sunday 4th January – my daughter has been bugging me for ages to go running, but she didn’t have any suitable trainers. I bought her these from Next and we went for our first run together. She did just under a mile and a half in 16 minutes – not bad for an 8 year old!
Day 5 – Monday 5th January – I had an MRI scan on my bad leg. It wasn’t a whole lot of fun, but I survived it!
Day 6 – Tuesday 6th January – we got a new mattress! This is something I’ve wanted for so long. We’d had our old one for 14 years and I’m convinced it’s partly responsible for my bad leg. The new one is lovely and thick and firm.
Day 7 – Wednesday 7th January – it’s exactly a year since we got the keys to our house! We’re still working on it. This is one of the latest additions to the decor – my daughter’s fabulous wall sticker.
Day 8 – Thursday 8th January – a very rare day with hardly any work, so I took advantage and gave the house a much-needed clean. It wasn’t much fun, but it looked a lot better afterwards!
Day 9 – Friday 9th January – one of my regular jobs involves children’s books and this week I’ve been working on tween girls’ fiction, including these two tear-jerkers. (If you’ve got girls aged about 10-13, I would definitely recommend them!)
Day 10 – Saturday 10th January – my daughter isn’t the only one who wants to start running, my eldest does too! So I took him running this morning, with my daughter cycling along. He would have managed three miles had he not fallen over a mile from home and had to walk the rest of it.

Wonderful photos…..
That’s so great that your kids like to run too….
That wall sticker is so pretty 🙂
January 12, 2015
Thanks very much. They’re finally learning from Mummy to love running too! 🙂
January 10, 2015
Wow, that new mattress looks amazing! Your daughter did fantastically on that run, well done to her!
January 12, 2015
Thanks very much, I was so proud of her. The mattress is so comfy! 🙂
January 10, 2015
it’s great that the kids are interested in your hobbies as well as all the stuff of theirs you take them to
January 12, 2015
It’s only recently they’ve got interested in running, but it is nice to do it together 🙂
January 10, 2015
Love that the kids join in with the exercising, my nearly 7 year old keeps pestering to come running with me, may just let her now!! That wall sticker is gorgeous, such lovely colours x
January 12, 2015
That’s lovely! Might be an idea to let her do a short distance. We’re really enjoying it.
My daughter chose the colours for the sticker herself – they go perfectly with her room. x
January 10, 2015
Very impressed with your family’s dedication to fitness! Those books look great, I’m sure my middle daughter would really enjoy them. What do you do for the authors? Read and review? My post this week is entitled – back to normality – just about sums up everyone’s week this week, doesn’t it?
January 12, 2015
I’m impressed with my family too! It’s nice going running with the kids. The books are great, I bet she would love them.
January 10, 2015
Go team! I had in my head reading this. Looks like you’ve started the year really proactively – with exercise and getting your leg looked at. Hope it continues to be a healthy year for you all x
January 12, 2015
Thanks very much. It’s great exercising with the kids. x
January 10, 2015
Love those wall stickers, really nice. Hope they sort your leg soon and a new mattress really works wonders doesn’t it. Couldn’t believe the difference when we changed our one a while back #365
January 13, 2015
Thanks very much. We are loving the new mattress! I get the results from my MRI in a couple of weeks, so my fingers are crossed!
January 10, 2015
my you are an active lot with running and cycling on top of all your other sports.
Hope it’s a good out co d with your test results
January 13, 2015
Thanks! The running and the cycling is a new thing for the kids, but they seem to be enjoying it and I’m enjoying exercising with them.
January 10, 2015
My girl asked today if she could get some trainers and come running with me – she was eyeing up top of the range Asics! As you know I haven’t run in nearly a year – maybe running with her might be a gentle way back in?? Love the decal 🙂
January 13, 2015
It could be a very good way back in! We went for Next trainers as I was reluctant to buy an expensive brand that she would grow out of quickly.
January 10, 2015
Love the wall sticker. I hope you get the results from the scan soon and they are all OK. I really want to start running but just can’t bring myself to start. I think it would be a good escape for me though x
January 13, 2015
Thanks very much, I love the sticker too! Running is a great thing to do – definitely worth giving it a go. x
January 11, 2015
A keen running family eh? It’s nice that you can do it together. I like the look of that mattress. I would like to do something about ours, but not sure what as we have different requirements: he wants firm, I want soft. Changing my pillow helped me.
January 13, 2015
The new mattress has been brilliant. I wanted firm, husband would have gone for something softer, but he let me choose as I’m the one who struggles with sleep. He loves the new mattress too! 🙂
January 11, 2015
That mattress does look very comfy! And well done to your girl, that’s really good. I am rubbish so I bet I would take longer. I need to get back into exercising soon. The gluttony has been stopped though. Which is a start 🙂
January 13, 2015
It is so comfy! Stopping the gluttony is a good start! There are plenty of adults that take longer than 10 minutes to run a mile, so I’m very proud of her!
January 11, 2015
We have not long had a new mattress too, It makes such a difference doesn’t it.
And love the wall sticker, it’s amazing how something like this transforms a room.
Great photos 🙂
January 13, 2015
Thanks very much. It is amazing what a difference a new mattress makes.
January 11, 2015
You’re going to inspire me to get back running again – if your young daughter can do it then I should be able to too! I wonder if they have the trainers in my size? I’m always looking for tween books for nieces so would love to hear more about them.
January 13, 2015
Those books are suitable for probably 10-13 year olds. Those kids’ trainers go right up to a 7!
January 11, 2015
I love their enthusiasm to run #365
January 13, 2015
Thanks very much, so do I! I hope they keep it up.
January 11, 2015
Wow. Your family’s dedication to fitness is rather impressive! What a gorgeous wall sticker. I think the new mattress will help; when I went to Next sleep event last year we were told mattresses should be replaced every 10 years! x
January 13, 2015
I think kids are more likely to exercise if they see their parents exercising, but I’m very impressed with the kids for taking up running. We had our old mattress 14 years and a new one was long overdue. This one is fab! x
January 11, 2015
Your daughter did so well. I couldn’t manage it, I’m too unfit sadly.
Love the stickers
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much. You could get fit! A lot of people can’t run a mile, but can build up to it quite quickly.
January 11, 2015
i remember you moving into yur new house and cannot believe that was a year ago. i like that wall decal so pretty
well done to your daughter on her run – thats awesome! and a new mattress – ooooh lovely!!! x
January 14, 2015
Thanks. I find it hard to believe it’s a year too! The mattress is brilliant – we’ve needed one for so long! 🙂 x
January 11, 2015
A mile and a half is fab, she should be proud of herself, I couldn’t even do a mile 😉 I love the wall sticker
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much. I think my daughter is quite proud of herself. She was surprised she was running as fast as some adults!
January 11, 2015
i love that both children are interested in running with you. I will definitely tell my middle daughter about the books, she is always looking for new books to read. I hope your boy didn’t hurt himself too badly.
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much, he was fine, just a bit bruised (and muddy!). Those books are great – definitely worth a read!
January 11, 2015
wow what an active bunch you all are! .. i hope the leg gets better soon lovely xx
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much! I have my follow-up appointment next week, so will find out more then. x
January 11, 2015
WOW a mile and a half is pretty amazing for an 8yo! You must be loving the new mattress, it’s the best feeling in the world when you have a new mattress or bedding! Hope the MRi results are good for you #Project365
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much! I was very impressed with my daughter for the mile and a half and I’m loving my new mattress!
January 11, 2015
Sounds like you are such an active family. I would love to run but just can’t get the motivation to get the first few out of the way because I know how unfit I am and I also know how hard it would be at first. #Project365
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much, we are quite active! It’s worth giving running a go. It is hard at first, but is amazing how quick you build up fitness.
January 11, 2015
I love your daughters wall sticker. We got a new mattress recently as well. It makes a massive difference.
January 14, 2015
Thanks very much, you’re right about the mattress! I’m loving it 🙂
January 11, 2015
how lovely to get them out and enjoying a great form of exercise, setting them up with good habits for life. The bike along with the running is good. Hope he didnt hurt himself when he fell. That is a good time.
I have been lucky I have won 2 beds in the last 15 years, about 8 years apart so saved me a lot of money. How they get a reason for you leg being sore.
January 14, 2015
Wow, that’s the perfect spacing to win the beds!
Will hopefully find out more about my leg when I get results from my scan next week.
I’m so pleased with my kids for the exercise and really hope they keep it up. He was fine after he fell – just a bit bruised!
January 11, 2015
Love the wall sticker, it is very pretty.
January 14, 2015
Thank you! It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? 🙂
January 11, 2015

January 14, 2015
Thanks very much! I’m very impressed with them as it’s all been their own decision.
January 12, 2015
The wall sticker looks lovely and that mattress must be so comfy, I hope you get your results for your MRI soon x

Thanks very much. I get the results in a few days. The mattress is brilliant 🙂

Lovely to see the kids out running with you, hoping to get my 8yo enthused once the weather perks up a bit. Love the wall sticker, great colours x
