Bye bye Blogspot!

The more observant among you may have noticed a very subtle change to my blog. Or maybe you haven’t.

For a whole 24 hours now, my blog has had its own custom domain. After over two years, I’ve waved goodbye to the blogspot and now I’m just

I should have done it a long time ago, but of course I was afraid. I’m such a technophobe that making any changes is a really big deal to me. I’m sure I’m going to break something or lose everything. That’s why I would never go self-hosted.

Not a lot has changed, it’s literally a new web address. Everything that was there before is still there.

It just looks a bit cooler and more professional, like I really care about my blogging. Which of course I do.

I thought I would lose my lovely Bloglovin’ followers, but thanks to the kind bloggers who told me my old and new account could be integrated, that hasn’t happened. And if you’re not a follower and you’d like to be, feel free to hit the Bloglovin’ button…

Now all I have to do is update all the links to my own blog in my posts (WHY did I do so many of them?!) and watch that lovely number 77 on the Tots100 vanish. But I’ll be back.

Oh, and if you do accidentally type in the old blogspot address, you’ll get redirected back to me. So it’s all good.

Thanks very much for reading for all this time. I might have a new professional-looking URL, but I’ll still be writing the same old stuff for as long as you care to keep reading.

  3. Well done, brave lady. It took just a couple of months for me to regain my tots ranking after going self hosted. You’ll be back up before you know it.

  4. Thanks very much, everyone! Good to know it doesn’t take too long to move back up the Tots rankings. I know it shouldn’t matter, but it does really! Can’t see the self-hosted happening, but never say never!

  6. It took 2 months of being in the wilderness on tots for me, then I was back higher than ever before! As for re linking all your old posts, you are a better woman than me- I never bothered as they all redirect anyway!

  7. Thanks, ladies. Good to know I shouldn’t be in the wildnerness for too long!
Katie – google Bloglovin and sign up – it’s very easy. You basically ‘claim’ your own blog and if you put the badge on your site it’s very easy for people to follow you that way.

  8. Well done you! If I changed and lost my blogspot too how do you ensure you don’t loose your bloglovin followers? If you claim again does that just automatically take your current followers over? Sorry a bit confused!
