What she (didn’t) wear – Auntie’s birthday

Knowing how my daughter loves wearing shorts over tights or leggings I bought her this smart outfit from M&S Autograph collection. I thought it would be lovely for her to wear at Christmas and to parties, or just at weekends. She told me she loved it and then proceeded not to wear it. Grrr!

Just about the only time she wore it was her Auntie’s 30th birthday lunch in the autumn.

The photo doesn’t really do it justice, but it is a beautiful outfit – pale pink and delicate material with flower detailing at the shoulder. It came in a pack with a pair of white tights, but they were far too big (I find M&S clothes come up quite big and aren’t really designed for slim kids) and she looked like Nora Battty in them. These were soon ditched in favour of a pair of pale pink H&M tights she already had in her drawer.

To add insult to injury on the wasting money front, I bought her this M&S Autograph cardigan especially to go with the outfit. It doesn’t really go with anything else, so is redundant and a complete waste of money. Which is a complete fail on my part. I don’t usually buy things without considering whether they can be worn in a number of ways. I broke my own rules here and paid the price (literally).

As the outfit is quite big, I live in hope that maybe she will decide to wear it at some point. It will probably still fit her next winter. Either way, it’s headed for eBay.

  3. Thanks, ladies! Maybe she will, Tas. She was threatening to wear it on her own birthday, but then she got some new clothes she liked a lot more!
Yep, that’s a thing for girls, me and the tiny 3. Not until they’re a little bit bigger I guess. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

  4. Thanks very much for commenting, Things’ Mum, I really appreciate it. I think I’ve been lucky with my daughter. She’s 7 and we’ve never battled over clothes. Although I always have to tread very carefully around my 9 year old boy who has very specific tastes!
