Well here we go with week 2 of Project 366 2016. Taking photos in winter is always difficult, so there’s a mixed bag of quite good and pretty bad this week!
Here’s our week in pictures…
Day 10 – Sunday 10th January – the day was overshadowed by this thing. It was leaking and stopped working. It caused a lot of conflict and general upset and didn’t make for a particularly nice day.
Day 11 – Monday 11th January – I’ve caught a cold from my husband, which was a good excuse to drink my absolute favourite drink in the world.
Day 12 – Tuesday 12th January – the nights are definitely drawing out (hooray!). This was taken at 4.30pm and the photo in no way does justice to the beauty of the sky.
Day 13 – Wednesday 13th January – we went to see my daughter singing at Young Voices in Birmingham, always a highlight of the school year!
Day 14 – Thursday 14th January – a quiet day at home with, sadly, not enough work to do. I kept myself busy doing jobs around the house.
Day 15 – Friday 15th January – only our second frosty day of the winter. I was very brave and went to the cinema on my own for the first time, to see Room, which is one of my absolute favourite books.
Day 16 – Saturday 16th January – our coldest Parkrun to date, but an absolutely beautiful morning. Was very proud of my daughter who didn’t want to run, but recorded her best time in a long time. I snapped this as I was actually running, so I was very pleased with how it turned out!

I hope you have got the washer fixed and you have got rid of your cold. How annoying!
Going to the cinema alone is brilliant….I haven’t done that for years!
Well done on the parkrun in this weather x
January 17, 2016
Thanks very much, we really enjoyed the Parkrun and I would definitely consider going to the cinema on my own again. The washing machine is sorted now, thank goodness! x

Great Parkrun action shot! I was too tentative to go out running this morning as pavements were really slippy – now I have to wait for OH to return from work before I can get out to road test the knee. I love that you did the cinema alone – something I’d love to do -I have ‘go to cinema without the children on my 40 before 40 list and as the OH hates the films I like it will probably a solo trip! Hope you get the washer fixed soon x
January 16, 2016
Luckily the washing machine issue was resolved after a fair amount of stress! I was pleased with my Parkrun shot 🙂 I would definitely consider going to the cinema on my own again. x
January 16, 2016
That’s a lovely shot you took while running, well done! I have never braved the cinema alone although I probably should since the husband never wants to see the same films.
January 16, 2016
Thanks very much! I was surprised and pleased with how well my running photo turned out. I think I would definitely go to the cinema on my own again – it’s a great way to see the films I never get to see!
January 16, 2016
Not so sure I would go to the cinema on my own, would not mind seeing that film to be honest.
Love the frosty grass. We have not had a huge amount of frosty morning either.
Oh no at the washing machine packing in, pretty much an essential these days.
Well done to daughter and her park run time, bet she is glad she went
January 16, 2016
Thanks very much! My daughter was very pleased she did the Parkrun today. Luckily after a lot of stress the washing machine started working again. I actually really enjoyed going to the cinema on my own and would definitely do it again.

Love that last shot, beautiful. Everyone has raved about Room, feel I should at least read the book now. #366
January 16, 2016
Thanks very much. I would definitely recommend reading Room – it’s a brilliant book!
January 16, 2016
Thanks very much. I think I might brave the cinema on my own again some time! x
January 16, 2016
I love the Park Run shot 🙂 I am actually enjoying this cold weather, it’s better than the weird miserable endless almost warm rain we’ve been having!
January 17, 2016
Thanks very much, I was pleased with the Parkrun shot 🙂 I’m not a big fan of the cold, but crisp and frosty is better than endless torrential rain.
January 16, 2016
Good work on the parkrun shot, and well done to your daughter for her personal best. I hate it when white goods go wrong, we rely on them so heavily that it really screws up momentum. And I agree, the days are lengthening and it’s very hopeful isn’t it?
Thanks for linking up to Project 366.
January 17, 2016
Thanks very much. I love the slightly longer days, roll on spring! I was very pleased with the Parkrun shot!
January 16, 2016
Hope the work starts coming in soon. January is so bleurgh just everywhere I always find. Hooray for the fixed washing machine though. I think I’d panic if ours died!
January 17, 2016
My fingers are firmly crossed for more work to land soon! Looking for it is such hard work and rarely pays off! It would be a nightmare if the washing machine died – my mum’s washing machine would be very busy!
January 17, 2016
I bet young voices was amazing. Love the frost and park run pictures. Well Done young lady for a good run time
January 17, 2016
Young Voices was incredible, we absolutely loved it! Was so pleased my daughter got a good time, hopefully she will be feeling more positive about it next week now!
January 17, 2016
Hopefully the washing machine is sorted now. It’s so difficult without one. Keep thinking of replacing ours as it doesn’t spin well and lies about the time left on the cycle, but as it mostly works we have kept putting it off. Love the frost picture.
January 17, 2016
Thanks very much! The washing machine is OK now, thank goodness, but it caused a lot of stress! We couldn’t be without it, that’s for sure.
January 17, 2016
that final photo is beautiful – and well done to your daughter for pushing on and going for a run. Oh I have had a broken washing machine before – nightmare! as is a broken dishwasher or tumble drier – how our grandparents coped i have no idea!!! Young Voices sounds amazing – what a great showcase for young talent. And I think i need to read Room as i keep hearing good things about it x
January 17, 2016
Thanks very much, I was so pleased with my daughter for getting out there! We had a dishwasher break a couple of years ago – it was a nightmare! I would definitely recommend Room – it’s a brilliant book. x
January 17, 2016
It really was such a beautiful, crisp morning yesterday, wasn’t it? Gorgeous. Looks like you’ve done far too much washing and cleaning this week! I hadn’t noticed the evenings getting lighter, just how very dark the mornings are. Such a struggle to get up 🙁
January 17, 2016
Yes, the mornings are still very dark! I do a fair amount of washing and cleaning every week – the pleasures of having muddy kids! x
January 17, 2016
Our washing machine decided to leak and then basically burn out its motor, last summer, when my in laws were here. It was not fun! You have my sympathy!
Lovely frosty photo too!

January 17, 2016
Hope you got your washing machine sorted out again – it’s horrible when they’re not working properly! Love the photo of the frosty blades of grass. Well done to your daughter on singing in Young Voices and recording her best time for a while at Parkrun.
January 17, 2016
Glad the washing machine is now working, they always seem to break down at the most inconvenient times! Love the frosty pic and I would love to go to the cinema by myself, only a couple more years until the youngest is at school and I may get the chance! Love the photo whilst running, it came out great.
January 18, 2016
Hope you’re feeling better and the washing machine is too! Love the frosty photo and the one you took at the parkrun too x
January 19, 2016
The Park Run photo looks lovely and crisp and makes me miss the colder weather
January 20, 2016
Well done for snapping and running Sarah. Sounds as if you have had a good week apart from the washing machine saga. Bet going to the cinema by yourself was lovely. My husband used to go alot before the teen got interested in the same films xx
January 22, 2016
Your park run shot looks amazing Sarah! Wow to the Young Voices….will look forward to that if either of mine take part. Did you like Room?
