Ever since we started the moving process, all my husband could think about was knocking the ground floor through and getting a new kitchen. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t so bothered about that. I’m happy with a separate lounge and dining room and the kitchen is a bit old-fashioned, but it’s bigger than the one at our old house and that’s all that really mattered to me.
For me, it was all about the bathrooms. I like a nice, white, clean bathroom with a powerful shower. It’s not a lot to ask. But I had a variety of bathrooms in a whole rainbow of colours and (sob) no powerful shower.
The new kitchen was going to be beautiful and fabulous and functional. Having lived for a few weeks in a house with a brilliant kitchen, even I, the un-domestic goddess, was starting to see the advantages of an amazing kitchen. We went to look at kitchens in a showroom. They were beautiful and fabulous and functional. And EXPENSIVE.
I saw my dream bathroom slipping away from me.
My husband (the financial decision maker, DIY and interior design expert) came to a decision. We wanted carpets, we wanted new doors, we wanted to modernise the house as much as possible with the money we currently have available to us.
We could do the kitchen OR we could we do a bathroom, the carpets, the doors and buy new beds for the boys.
So now it’s all about the bathroom!
The bathroom at the rented house was beautiful and fitted to perfection. It had been fitted by one of the dads from school. We’ve ordered our bath, shower, toilet, tiles etc and this guy is coming to fit our bathroom. It will take a few weeks as he has to fit it in with his day job. But in a few weeks it will be goodbye avocado and pink and hello lovely white suite and powerful shower!
I can’t wait!
