I quite like Halloween. Yes, I think there’s too much crap stuff in the shops, but on the whole I like it. We dress up in costumes, we call on people we know and they give the kids sweets. It’s not ‘trick or treat’ exactly. It’s more just chatting to people. Some of whom don’t get to see the kids close up any other time during the year. They are always very pleased to admire the kids’ costumes and how much they’ve all grown.
For us, it’s more sociable than scary.
This photo was taken on our very first Halloween in our house, the first time my boys had ever dressed up for Halloween or been trick or treating. They were 4 and only just 2. They’re pictured here with our good friends who are moving away. My younger son is the little pumpkin and my eldest is randomly dressed as C3-PO (I think I’ve got that right, I neither know nor care about Star Wars).
And my daughter? She was just a 20 week bump. It was another two years before she donned the little pumpkin herself.
Linking up with The Gallery at Sticky Fingers. Pop on over to see how others have interpreted the theme ‘Halloween’.
