My younger son loves yellow. It is his absolute favourite colour. And I love that it’s his favourite colour because it’s not boring or predictable. And it suits him. Because he’s got the sunniest personality. He’s the easiest of my children and his smile can light up a room.
We scour the earth looking for yellow clothes for him – Tshirts, hoodies, coats. He lost one yellow hoodie on holiday in Center Parcs and we had to travel to Bristol to get him a replacement.
Regular readers will know the pain caused by the loss of a yellow wrist band from McDonalds No other colour would do. It HAD to be yellow.
It’s his birthday soon. He reminded me that I would need to get yellow balloons ready. He doesn’t need numbers and lots of colour. He just needs yellow.
My car is yellow. It is scratched and dented. I’m not the best driver. But it is my pride and joy. I’ve had it a long time. Specifically I got it precisely four weeks before my lovely boy came into the world.
Is this why he likes yellow so much?!

Wow I love your car!! Your boy must love sitting in that. Yes I think maybe that is why he likes yellow so much π

Yes I’m sure it’s a hereditary love! Must be the same reason little girls like pink so much… I for one attempt to dress mine is varied shades but no doubt it’ll end up a dominant colour as I love it too! My car is silver… Not so much fun really π lol xx

I have to be honest I have a phobia of yellow cars… but I love the yellow wrapping paper

How funny, I was 36 weeks pregnant on my 30th birthday too! These ‘Gallery’ themes really are picked out for you aren’t they?! ‘yellow’ stumped me this week….I really dislike it π

That is so lovely and what a fantastic car!! I love yellow ad actually as I was looking for Gallery inspiration last night I was thinking that so many of the boy’s t shirts have been yellow over the years. It is a great colour!

It seems this theme was ideal for you. I hope he has a fab birthday x

The “30” balloons? Does that mean the yellow car was a gift for your 30th? Great gift! I haven’t even got a license – LOL.
Yes, yellow is beautiful. Fab that your son loves it – may he have a sunny disposition forever π

Thank you very much for your lovely comments π
I like the idea that the car has made him like yellow so much π
Can’t believe you would have a phobia of yellow cars, Kitchenmechanic!
That is a coincidence, Suzanne! I’m sure the day will come when the Gallery theme isn’t written exactly for me, but I’ve had a good run these last few weeks!
My son’s disposition is fantastic, Lesley. He’s such a delight to be around.
Why am I not surprised your sons had yellow Tshirts too, Nikki? We seem to choose most things the same!
Yes, it was my birthday present, but we still had the loan for five years!

Thats fab that he likes a colour other than blue – he has his own mind!
October 10, 2012
I agree, fab car colour!! And how lovely that it’s your sons favourite colour, you don’t really hear of yellow being someone’s favourite very often!

Love your car, what a great way to get yellow into your life everyday. Fantastic.

Thanks very much for your comments, ladies. Glad you like my car! It’s not looking quite so good now, though!

I don’t actually know if Spud has a favourite colour. I suspect it will change daily but after reading your post, I will definitely ask him in the morning. Yellow is a lovely cheerful colour and reading this made me smile π

Thanks very much, I’m glad it made you smile! Yellow has that effect π

Wonderful blog, SarahMummy! I think the reason your son loves yellow would be the fact that you had a yellow car a month before you had him. π Maybe when heβs old enough, you could pass it down to him like a family heirloom. Better have it well-maintained, then! ^.~

Thanks very much, really appreciate that! I do like to think he loves it because of my car. Much as he loves yellow, he doesn’t want the car. My daughter does though, so I’ve got to look after it for her, not that I’ve done a great job so far! I’ve had it nearly 10 years, another 10 years until she can dirve it (as long as they don’t change the law or it will be longer!).
