The Other Miss Jones by Sophie Flynn
The Other Miss Jones by Sophie Flynn is my first ever Vinted book purchase! I read a lot of books and buy most of them new. A full price paperback costs £10 and I read a book every five or six days. That is an expensive hobby. I also keep a lot of the books I read and storage is becoming a problem. I figured if I buy secondhand, I will definitely save money and I’m more likely to let them go.
I keep a list of books I want to read on my phone because I’ve read interesting reviews of them. I don’t remember where or when I saw the review, but I decided to see if I could find The Other Miss Jones by on Vinted.
The Other Miss Jones is a fast-paced psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns. For years, police call handler Sally Jones has been emailing her namesake – the other Sally Jones. It started when Sally received an email meant for the other Sally and sent it on to her. Over the years, they’ve become friends. Sally enjoys hearing about the other Sally’s life in Weston-super-Mare with her daughter, Grace.
Two weeks before Sally’s wedding to Nathan, she becomes concerned about the other Sally. When she can’t get in touch with her, she decides to head down to Weston from Warwickshire to check she is safe and well. There, she discovers that nothing the other Sally told her was true. And the other Sally could bring Sally’s whole world crashing down…
I don’t want to go into much more detail and ruin the story because it kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked that it was set in Warwickshire and Weston-super-Mare – two places familiar to me, which don’t tend to get much coverage in books (although the brilliant Kat and Lock series by Jo Callaghan is set in Warwickshire). It was also an interesting perspective that everyone around Sally was from a police background.
If you enjoy a psychological thriller, I would definitely recommend The Other Miss Jones. Although I would say it’s not quite as good as The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas, which I read just before it.
I’ve since bought another five books on Vinted, so expect reviews of those over the coming months.
