Drucebox for teenage boys: Review and giveaway #ad

#ad Paid collaboration with Drucebox

Drucebox is a new idea for teenage boys aged around 14-17 – a box packed with all the essentials to help them start shaving. As well as a razor, razor blades, flannel and rather cool looking shaving gel and face putty, it also includes lots of advice.

Drucebox says: We’re here to make life easier and give you everything you need to start shaving well.

Starting shaving can be a slightly awkward time for boys. When to start? How to start? What will their friends think? Can they talk to their parents about it?

Drucebox aims to take away some of that uncertainty. The company was started earlier this year when founder James realised that, although there are shaving kits available, none of them are specifically designed for teenage boys or offer the advice or support they need. In fact, the messages many of them give are neither helpful nor healthy for boys. A lot of shaving kits are all about being macho or looking a certain way, but there is none of that with Drucebox, which is far healthier for young boys who may struggle with self-esteem issues or are just trying to work out who they really are.

Drucebox products are all cruelty-free, the packaging is low plastic and items are recyclable. Every purchase comes with six weeks of free one to one support for boys who have any questions – provided by trained, DBS checked youth experts.

I like this simple advice from Drucebox: Some guys like to start shaving because it’s often seen as part of the journey to adulthood. For others, it’s because the fluff on their face is unappealing and annoying. It’s totally up to you when and how you shave, so don’t worry about what others think.

There’s lots of really good advice on things like replacing blades, checking out the direction of hair growth, what to do about skin irritation and (a particularly big issue for our family) – how to shave with acne and spots.

Although the box is aimed at 14-17 year old boys, my 17 year old is quite happy with his electric razor. I knew exactly who would seize on the box though – my 19 year old, who loves fancy men’s skincare products.

Drucebox is primarily about shaving, but there’s also some physical and mental health tips for boys in there too. Puberty is a tough time for boys – combining the hormonal changes with pressure from school, friends and parents. And the sad fact is that suicide is the biggest killer of men and boys under the age of 45, so any tool which can draw attention to mental health has to be a good thing.

Easy to read tips in the pack include getting outside, staying social, talking about any problems, eating a balanced diet and taking regular breaks from their phones.

Puberty tips touch on feelings for others in a really nice and inclusive way: Sometimes they (feelings of attraction) are for the same sex as you, sometimes the opposite. It’s really normal and can change all the time. Likewise, it’s important you accept others and are supportive of friends and their choices.

If you would like to order a Drucebox for the teenage boy in your life, I’ve got an exclusive offer code to get 15% off, available until 31.5.21. Just add the code MUMOFTHREE15 to your order.

If you have a son, grandson, nephew, friend or little brother who might like to try Drucebox, I have one to give away on the blog! Just follow the instructions on the widget below. Good luck!
