Project 365 2019 Week 7

It’s been a mild, spring-like week and I’m happy that the kids have now broken up for half-term.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 41 – Sunday 10th February – last Sunday, my daughter was very excited about getting a new dance outfit for a school competition. When it arrived on Tuesday, she was too ill to even take it out of the packet. Today, she finally took it out of the package and put it on. The look on her face is priceless to me. My daughter has finally got her spark back. Apart from that, my husband and I ran 10 miles in the rain, and my son’s football match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Day 42 – Monday 11th February – it’s so nice to see the lighter mornings now. I’m pleased to say that my daughter went back to school. It was a lovely mild, spring-like day and I had the pleasure of meeting up with my friend Emma from Crazy With Twins and her lovely son, Bear.

Day 43 –  Tuesday 12th February – another mild day and the guinea pigs were able to get out on the patio. They’ve been coming in the house over winter and they cause chaos! I’ll be glad when they can get back out on the grass.

Day 44 – Wednesday 13th February – half-term can’t come fast enough for my son’s school uniform. He’s in year 10 and still growing very fast. He’s grown out of the blazer I bought him at the start of year 9 (his brother’s year 9 blazer lasted him until the end of year 11) and the trousers I bought him at the start of year 10. He’s also destroyed the Clark’s men’s shoes I bought him at the start of year 10, by playing football in the playground.

Day 45 – Thursday 14th February – another lovely, sunny day. After nearly 26 years together, my husband and I don’t go big on Valentine’s Day, but we do always buy each other a present. My husband is very good at buying me clothes (in fact he buys most of my clothes as I have a mental blockage about spending money on myself) and he’s done a very good job with these T-shirts.

Day 46 – Friday 15th February – the kids’ last day of school before half-term and the the warmest, sunniest day so far, although it was still slightly frosty when I went out for my six mile run in the morning. This was the temperature in the afternoon.

Day 47 – Saturday 16th February – a few weeks ago, I wrote about wanting to update our lounge. Work has already begun. We have taken down the brown curtains and replaced them with white blinds, which look much brighter and more modern and have made the room look so much more spacious. This photo doesn’t really do it justice. It definitely looks very nice. In other news, my younger son joined my husband, daughter and I on parkrun.

  1. I love that your hubby keeps you topped up in super dry!! And my Z seems to be following in the footsteps of your boy. He’s already destroyed his kickers that I got 4 months ago and I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying the next size of trousers very soon!

    • Wow, I wouldn’t think it would be possible to destroy Kickers so quickly! My husband is very good with the Superdry.

  2. Fancy dance outfit. What sort of dancing does your daughter do? The sunrise picture is lovely and the guinea pigs are sooo cute!! How is it like taking care of these pets? Yeah, boys grow up really fast it’s scary sometimes & many of my shoes get torn like that as well due to sports and sometimes rain. Your lounge looks great! The simple yet elegant beauty white gives……

    • Thanks very much! My daughter mainly does ballet, but does tap and jazz too. She has done street and contemporary in the past too and can still do those pretty well. The outfit was for a jazz dance. Guinea pigs are reasonably easy to look after, but they do need cleaning a couple of times a week.

My teen has grown out of the blazer that I bought her at the strart of year 10 but she’s making do. She only has a few months left at school. Eek! Those shoes are in a sorry state!

    • Thanks very much, we’re really pleased with the blinds and they were very good value too! I would definitely make my son stick with his blazer if he only had a few months left. My eldest has only got a few months left! He needs to start revising. x

My elder one needs a new uniform as well, as he has grown up since the start of the year.
Well done to your husband for knowing what to buy for you. Mine would be totally lost, and would buy something wrong.

    • My husband has always been good at buying presents. Boys do grow so quickly! I think my son will start slowing down soon, like his brother has. My eldest is annoyed that he isn’t quite as tall as his dad!
My daughter was very pleased with her dance outfit when she finally put it on.

  6. I’m glad that your daughter is feeling well again. Your younger son has really done a good job on wearing out those shoes. I’m dreading all that growing – I’m not sure I’ll keep up with the clothes buying.

  7. glad your daughter is feeling better and is back at school. That outfit is lovely.
Oh dear to the school shoes, why do kids not realise that school shoes are not suitable footwear for football?
Great choice of present, my husband would not even know what size I am.

    • My husband is really good at choosing presents, he always has been. To be honest I don’t mind him wrecking his shoes too much as I like that he’s so active. At least they survived half the school year!

  11. It’s funny how simple things like changing curtains can have such an effect. I am hoping to update each room this year just with a few bits before we put the house on the marekey. Lovely tees your husband brought you I think he did very well indeed. Hope you are enjoying half term xx

    • It’s a good job you didn’t come over in normal February temperatures! I’m loving this mild weather, it’s made the winter so much shorter. To be honest I don’t mind him destroying his shoes too much, because I’m glad he’s active.

  14. The weather has been so up and down over the last month, really doesn’t seem like the UK’s winter! I have only been with my husband for 4 and a half years but we don’t bother with Valentine’s at all! #project365
