A few weeks ago, I went to the BlogOn conference in Manchester. While I was there, I met the lovely ladies from Hotter shoes (and a handsome prince!). The ladies were measuring bloggers’ feet, so they could try on a pair of their Brooke casual shoes. You can always get your feet measured in a Hotter store if you’re not sure what size you are. Does anywhere else do that for adults?!
Anyway, I was a 7.5, which didn’t surprise me. I always wear an 8, as 7s feel a bit tight and you can’t get half sizes many places. The Brooke Shoes were lovely and comfortable. They come in a range of pastel colours – ivory, salmon, duck egg and blue river. But one of the Hotter ladies was wearing them in the Royal Wedding Collection special edition. I can never resist something which is a bit different, which is why I drive a yellow car. I NEEDED those Royal Wedding shoes.
So I was very happy when I heard that I was one of the bloggers who’d been selected to receive a pair of shoes. I had to wait a while for my funky shoes, but they were worth the wait! Hotter made just 6000 Royal Wedding shoes across four different styles, so there are only a handful fo them in existence.
My daughter was disappointed in me. She thought the plain colours were way cooler, but she knows I can’t resist something which is out of the ordinary.
The Royal Wedding Brooke shoes are made of nubuck leather and canvas and they are, of course, red, white and blue, featuring the stars of the American flag. Inside, one of them has the union jack on the insole and one has the American flag. But just in case that isn’t quite comfortable enough, they come with a spare set of insoles. And there’s also a set of navy laces, just in case I fancy a change from the white ones.
I am someone who is very hard on shoes. I walk a long way and I walk heavily. A pair of Converse only ever lasts me one summer (and I will be wearing my flip flops for half of the time!), but I have every confidence that my Brooke shoes are built to last. My previous pair of Hotter shoes, some winter boots, are still going strong after three years of me being hard on them.
And they are so comfy. Walking in them really does feel like walking on air. I am very pleased with my new shoes!
I was sent a pair of shoes for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.
