Project 365 2017 Week 12

It hasn’t been the best week in our house, with yet another virus lasting the full week.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 78 – Sunday 19th March – I really dislike Sundays and find them miserable. I wanted to not find today miserable, but my daughter came home for a sleepover very tired and with an injured nose and my younger son appears to have gone down with another virus. Miserable Sunday it is then! I’m cheating a bit with this photo of red phone boxes in Cheltenham as I took it yesterday, but I only posted it on Instagram today!

Day 79 – Monday 20th March – my younger son was off school with a bad headache, sore throat, cough and generally feeling exhausted. It’s deja vu from two months ago. My eldest had an interview, or ‘informal discussion’ as they call it for the grammar school he wants to go to. And I wore this yellow coat in the rain. I’ve had it for years and I still don’t know if I actually like it. I’m sure I look a weirdo in it, but I never buy new clothes until my old ones have got holes in them.

Day 80 – Tuesday 21st March – my son was still off school ill and was worse today, with a high temperature. I was quite worried about him for a while. My dermatologist has come up with a solution for my acne/ rosacea flare-up – 20mg of Roaccutane for a week, then wean by 5mg a week until I’m back down to 5mg again. So far, so good!

Day 81 – Wednesday 22nd March – a really difficult day, due to a car breakdown. You can read all about it here. My eldest did his final GCSE music performance exam at school. GCSE music has been a rather challenging experience for him (I would strongly recommend people not to take it!), but he seems to coming through it a bit now.

Day 82 – Thursday 23rd March – my son is still off school, but he seemed slightly better to me today. I’m pleased to say my car was back from the garage before dance lessons and it didn’t cost too much to repair either!

Day 83 – Friday 24th March – so we made it to a full week off school for my son. It’s not good, but these things happen. He really hasn’t been well enough at all. My daughter had to mix and match a whacky outfit for Comic Relief, so she went with a summer and winter theme.

Day 84 – Saturday 25th March – my daughter ran her first Parkrun in months and I beat my PB again! Sadly I forgot my phone, so no photos. I had to take an emergency daffodil photo instead. My son was almost back to normal.

    • Constant illness is pretty frustrating, isn’t it? Thanks! There were a lot more yellow coats in the shops last year, so I think it was finally in fashion. My car is all sorted now, thank goodness! x

  4. I love the yellow rain jacket – and it matches your Mini! I’m like you with rarely buying new clothes – my winter coat is 11 years old and still going strong.

    • I hadn’t really noticed the yellow theme in my post until it went live! I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t buy clothes very often! I read a blogger saying she wasn’t going to buy any clothes in April and I thought ‘that’s me EVERY month!’.

  5. Sounds like you’ve really had a rough week. I really hope your family all fight thru the illnesses.
I like your yellow coat – yellow is always a difficult colour to pull off!
Being carless is frustrating, hope you get it back soon

  6. Glad to hear your son is perking up. Sarah, that jacket is lovely and I’m no fan of yellow other than in daffs normally! Glad the car wasn’t too expensive to fix #365

  7. I like the yellow raincoat – I would happily wear that, but I do like quite bright colours. The GCSE music sounds like a pain. I can remember my music teacher wanting me to do music and me putting my foot down. Glad I did because I wasn’t that talented and I think I’d have found it a slog.

    • GCSE music is a real slog, but he’s finished two-thirds of it now! There’s no way I’d let my other kids do it. Thanks, there’s a lot of love for my yellow coat! I always wore bright colours until a few years ago, but I seem to wear a lot more black now than I used to.

  9. Only a week behind in my wanders around the 365 linky, so I hope your son is feeling much better. What a shame about the Music GCSE being so challenging for him, I’m biased (my career is in music) but I loved my GCSE music – hated the A level though! Hope the interview went well for your eldest, when do they find out if they are accepted in? I love your yellow jacket! Perfect for a rainy day! 🙂 #project365

  10. sorry for the late response, how did your son’s interview go for his grammar school? Love R’s costume and I think the yellow jacket looks great, is the grey fleece built into it or separate?
