Project 366 Weeks 37 & 38

This last couple of weeks have been all about calm days, working quietly on my own, and totally manic evenings, as the kids seem to be doing more extra-curricular activities than ever. I hope things ease up a bit soon, because I don’t think I can keep the pace up all year.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 255 – Sunday 11th September – Eric had his final bath of the year and I scrubbed the hutch to within an inch of its life, in preparation for getting a new friend soon.

Day 256 – Monday 12th September – back to work and I finished reading this brilliant and thought-provoking book. I really would recommend it for teenage girls and mums of teenage girls.

Only Ever Yours, Book review, Louise O'Neill

Day 257 – Tuesday 13th September – I’m struggling a bit with parenting at the moment and feeling miserable, but look at that sky! Such an amazing hot day.

Day 258 – Wednesday 14th September – an extremely hot day! I had a 12 mile run planned, but after two miles I realised that was foolish. I compromised by running seven miles.

Day 259 – Thursday 15th September – we’re going to a 50th birthday party at the weekend. The dress codes are ‘dress to impress’ and ‘a flash of scarlet’. Well, one out of two ain’t bad!

Converse, Trainers, Shoes, 365, 366

Day 260 – Friday 16th September – the giant mirror was installed in our downstairs toilet. How good does that look? There’s just a bit of hole filling and painting to do to get it really finished.

Day 261 – Saturday 17th September – I’d been dreading this day for a long time as I had too much to juggle. My eldest and husband were both away. I had to drop my son off at school at 8am for a rugby match, then dropped my daughter with parents so I could go for my final 12 mile training run for the half marathon. In the afternoon, my daughter had her panto audition and in the evening we had a 50th birthday party. I’m pleased to say it all went smoothly, apart from an injury on my run which forced me to pull out at 10 miles. The only photos we took were of Eric and his new little friend, Wilfred.

Day 262 – Sunday 18th September – I dropped my phone in the bath yesterday. It was in there very briefly and everything seemed to be working well until I realised I couldn’t actually make phone calls. It’s currently in rice, so no photos today!

Day 263 – Monday 19th September – I’m pleased to say that sticking a phone in rice really does make it work again! Today I had some new work in the morning and the usual rushing around in the evening. But it’s another photo of guinea pigs…

Day 264 – Tuesday 20th September – my daughter has been growing again and needed new ballet and tap shoes. They cost nearly twice as much now she’s Grade 3!

Day 265 – Wednesday 21st September – the weather was a bit miserable, but there’s still colour in the garden.

Flowers, Garden, 365, 366

Day 266 – Thursday 22nd September – happy 43rd birthday to me! We kept it pretty low-key, but my husband and I had a trip to Grand Central and the Bullring in Birmingham.

Day 267 – Friday 23rd September – what does a bookworm spend her birthday money on? Books, of course!

Books, Birthday, 365, 366

Day 268 – Saturday 24th September – no Parkrun for me as I’m resting ready for the Cheltenham half marathon tomorrow, but all three of the kids ran it. I was so proud to see them all wearing their 10 milestone Tshirts for the first time.

  2. Love the pile of books – happy belated birthday. Your toilet is looking amazing! Good luck with the half – you’ll nail it! Oh, a ‘Dress to Impress’ invite would send me running for the hills! 😉

    • Thanks very much! Glad it’s not just me that gets scared by ‘dress to impress’! Luckily everyone was fine with what I was wearing.

  3. Well done to the kids on their Parkrun tees. I’ve got a 40th to go to in 2 months, and rather than the expected fancy dress (which I hate anyway), it’s black tie. A lot of us aren’t impressed – most of the men don’t have black tie because they haven’t worn it in years so that’s a high rental bill, and while I have lots of dresses, not one fits. Nightmare. Dress codes put me off attending a lot of parties!

    • Oh no! We don’t ever get invited to parties, so this was quite exciting. Most of the women were pretty dressed up, but nobody batted an eyelid at my Converse. Some people were actually quite impressed!

    • Thanks very much! My daughter and eldest ran their 10th Parkrun quite a long time ago, but my younger son has only just completed his. It was nice to see them all wearing their Tshirts together.

  5. Isn’t this time of year odd? I feel like your update started in summer and finished firmly in Autumn. I suspect by the next one it’s going to feel distinctly wintry.

    • I do hope not! It was so hot for a couple of days in that first week! I was genuinely worried about it being too hot for the half marathon! x

  6. What a brilliant pile of books. One of the benefits of cutting back on the blogging has been that I’ve been reading loads more, loving it! Good luck working your way through them, and Me Before You made me cry, a lot 🙂 Gorgeous photos of your very busy fortnight, hope your new guinea pig is settling in and LOVE your new mirror etc, looks amazing!

    • Thanks very much! I love reading and I’m so pleased with my pile of books! I’ve heard a lot about Me Before You. It’s not my usual kind of book, but I thought I would give it a go!

  7. gosh the new guinea pig looks tiny.
Hope you half marathon went ok, 29 oC is rather warm to be alive let alone running.
Love their matching tops, well done to them all.
Those books would last me for years, I am terribly bad for not reading any more, I use to consume a lot of books but my short term memory is bad and I have to keep flicking back to remind myself who the characters are.
