It’s been week of two halves – when I felt very down about work and then very happy about it.
Here’s our week in pictures…
Day 31 – Sunday 31st January – I’m always reading that people are intending to run 400 or 500 miles in a year, but I have no idea how far I run. So this year I’m recording all of my runs. I ran 55 miles in January and was pleased to average a run every other day.
Day 32 – Monday 1st February – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – work days make for very boring photos! I didn’t do anything worthy of a photo all day. But this photo, taken out of my bedroom window as the sun set was surprisingly popular on Instagram.
Day 33 – Tuesday 2nd February – work is still rather slow, but today I had the strange pleasure of working with a children’s Christmas book.
Day 34 – Wednesday 3rd February – another day divided between doing what little work I have and looking for more work. I’ll be honest, sometimes freelance work scares me and I’m finding it quite tough at the moment. On the plus side, I have crocuses in the garden to join the daffodils.
Day 35 – Thursday 4th February – what a difference a day makes! After feeling tearful about my lack of work yesterday, I had a meeting with a new client and it looks like I’m going to be very busy from now on! This is me in clothes for meeting people ie smart jeans and no hoodie.
Day 36 – Friday 5th February – starting to work on my new contract. Yes, I’m a messy worker and I’m usually surrounded by bits of paper.
Day 37 – Saturday 6th February – this photo was taken at 8.30 this morning and in no way does the torrential rain justice. The roads were like rivers. My younger son was supposed to be playing rugby, but when we arrived at school, the other school had just called the game off a few minutes earlier. My son was VERY relieved. Taking him home meant that I missed Parkrun and, I must be honest, I was actually quite relieved about that, which is totally unlike me.

You look so happy in that picture – clearly shows your relief at getting more work in! Well done on the miles – and thanks again for the nudge to total mine up – and missing a Parkrun, or any run, and not feeling bothered is a good thing – maybe you just need that rest 🙂

Thanks very much! It’s such a relief to know I’ll be getting more work in! It was just the weather that put me off Parkrun. I was all dressed ready to go, but the weather was just horrendous!
February 6, 2016
Well done with your running! That’s fantastic!
Congrats about the work….You look so happy! I am so chuffed for you x
February 6, 2016
Thanks very much, I’m pleased with my miles and even more pleased to have more work! x
February 6, 2016
Gosh, we’ve had rain all day, but nothing like that, very windy though. Glad work has taken a turn for the better for you and I do love the crocus’s coming up #366
February 6, 2016
Thanks very much, I’m really pleased about the work! The rain has been shocking today.
February 6, 2016
The rain literally has not stopped today has it? I did think of you this morning, wondered if you would do Parkrun! I’m a messy worker too.
February 6, 2016
I was all dressed and ready to go for Parkrun, but it didn’t happen! Glad I’m not the only messy worker!
February 6, 2016
Yay for the new client. May they have lots and lots for you all year round (except for when you want a break of course). You’re looking very smart in your “meet new potential client” clothes!
February 6, 2016
Thanks very much! I’m so pleased about the new client 🙂

Very well done on running 55 miles last month! also very well done on the new work which will keep you busy – and i too am a messy worker!!
I am fed up with all of this rain – it has been like it all day and enough is enough!!!! x
February 7, 2016
Thanks very much! It’s such a relief to have some work at last. The rain is awful, isn’t it? x

Terrible weather yesterday – glad to see some sun now. Well done on finding the work – you seem to have the knack of being able to source new work when you need to, even if it means a bit of nailbiting first.
February 7, 2016
Thanks very much. I always seem to get lucky with the work. This was the first time in a long time when I had actually searched for it and found it!
February 7, 2016
Hasn’t it been just the worst week weather-wise? It’s really got me down to be honest 🙁 Love that you’ve got more work and what looks like something rather good! Brilliant.
February 7, 2016
Thanks very much! It’s a real relief about the work. I didn’t mind the weather too much until Saturday, but then it just got horrendous!

I have a similar picture of crocuses from my muddy bike ride, lovely to see a bit of colour in an otherwise dull February. Hope work picks up for you soon
February 7, 2016
It is definitely good to see the colour! Work is definitely looking more positive 🙂

The weather has been so miserable. Let’s hope it improves soon. The crocuses look good – Spring’s on the way. Good job on the new contract. Hope you get the work level you want.
February 7, 2016
Thanks very much! It’s such a relief that spring is on the way – and an even bigger relief that I’ve found some work! Long may it continue!

So pleased for the turn around on the work front Sarah. Your work area actually looks neat compared to what mine sometimes looks like. The last few days have been truly wet and miserable x
February 10, 2016
Sometimes cancelled out door activities can be a blessing, and water running in rivers down the street is one of those times.
I am really glad you have managed to find some more freelance work, being short of money is always a worry when you have a young family.
I feel the same way about my working days, and usually then try and think of Saturdays picture in advance.
February 12, 2016
I wouldn’t have even ventured out in that rain! Well done on your new contract. Like the selfie x

I miss the rain so much, the weather, the changing skies, yet I’m sure as soon as I return to the Uk i’ll be complaining about missing the blue skies
