Project 365 2015 Week 30

The first week of the school holidays has been an emotional one and even slightly boring at times.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 199 – Sunday 19th July – my husband took the kids to Snowdon camping (again!), so it was just me and the furry dudes at home.

Day 200 – Monday 20th July – the first day of the school holidays and the kids came back from camping. This is one of the two baskets of washing they’d produced in only two days.

Day 201 – Tuesday 21st July – a really good day hunting for Shaun the Sheep in Bristol. This is Knitwit.

Shaun the Sheep, Shaun in the City, Bristol, 365

Day 202 – Wednesday 22nd July – we spent too long at home and too long with the kids arguing! This was a rare moment when my eldest and my daughter played violin together.

Son, Daughter, Siblings, 365

Day 203 – Thursday 23rd July – we packed for Scout camp! This is no ordinary Scout camp – 12 whole days away in Holland for both boys, so we had to make sure we got it just right.

Packing, Scout camp, Sons, 365

Day 204 – Friday 24th July – the day I’d been dreading for over a year (although I didn’t show my boys I was dreading it). Late at night, we dropped them off for their 12 day Scout camp to Holland.

Rucksacks, Boys, Camping, Scout camp

Day 205 – Saturday 25th July – I did the Parkrun with my daughter, but she felt ill as she’d only just eaten her breakfast, so we had to stop.

    • Thanks very much! It’s such a long time for them to be away, but I’m sure they’ll have a brilliant time. Daisy loves the nibble sticks, but we have to ration them! Poor old Eric doesn’t get a look in.

  6. Love that your OH takes the children camping – I booked 4 nights just me and my two in August. A 12 night camp sounds like a long one – growing up so fast but I am sure they’ll love it and will back in a flash! 🙂

    • Good luck with your camping! The Daddy and kids camping trip is a long tradition in our family – hubby goes with his best friend and his kids. Mums don’t get involved at all!

    • Thanks very much! Glad it’s not just my daughter! Now she thinks she’s completely unable to run three miles, which isn’t true!

  7. sorry to hear your daughter was poorly during Parkrun. Are you ever tempted to go camping with hubby and the kids? I love camping, in our house it’s usually me that goes on my own and hubby and kids stay at home

    • Thanks! She was fine once she stopped running – she just ate her breakfast too close to the run. I don’t like camping anyway, but this camping trip is sacred – it’s a man thing! Hubby goes with his best friend every year and they take all of the kids.

      • At least we both get our ‘me time’ me in a tent alone and you at home while your family camp, win win

    • Thanks very much! They’re at the back of my mind all the time and I’m constantly counting hours and days and trying to think about how long 12 days really feels. I’m driving myself a bit mad!
Shaun the Sheep trail is definitely worth a visit if you can manage it. x

  10. I can understand why you’d feel anxious about the scout camp, do you get any contact from them while they’re away? They will be fine though, you know the leaders are all very capable. And what a wonderful experience you’ve given them. Shame your daughter couldn’t finish the run but good on her for starting it!

    • Thanks! No real contact from them while they’re away – just a Facebook page and occasional texts from leaders if we’re lucky, but nothing personal from the boys 🙁

  14. 12 days of peace from the boys, your daughter will enjoy having you to herself. That looks like a lot of stuff to take, but better too much that not enough.
