I fell in love with this purple dress from Next with its delicate bird print right at the start of autumn. There was a pair of trousers in the same print too (although dark grey rather than purple). I should have snapped them both up as soon as I saw them, because the trousers sold out. I managed to get the dress for my daughter though.
It’s an everyday dress. I like her to have a couple of dresses she can wear at weekends with leggings or tights, which aren’t party dresses or smart dresses. It has short sleeves and a round neck and is made of a comfortable fabric and is a comfortable fit, with a fairly wide skirt.
The birds have lots of different colours on them, so it’s easy to pick out colours to wear with the dress – including grey, pink and purple. My daughter is wearing the dress with a bright pink cable knit cardigan, which I picked up for her in the Next summer sale and a pair of pale pink cable knit tights, also from Next, which had somehow survived from last winter without getting holes.
The dress is loose enough to wear a long-sleeved top underneath it – we would probably go for navy or a darker purple – but on the day these pictures were taken, it was still warm enough not to need the long-sleeved top. Even though the calendar told us it was November!
The outfit is finished off with her new biker boots, which seem to look cool with pretty much anything she wears.
