What she wore: Seaside fashion for not so sunny days

After a long, hot, sunny summer, the weather was always going to turn at some point. And, according to sod’s law, that point was always going to be exactly when we went on holiday to Padstow.
So it was 17 degrees, cloudy and showery, with the tail end of Hurricane Bertha to contend with. Not perfect weather for my daughter’s most summery of summer outfits. But did that stop her dressing for the seaside? Of course it didn’t!

I picked this short sleeved Next jumper up for her in the sale. It’s made of knitted cotton with a boat design which is perfect for the British seaside. I got it for her in 9-10 so she could wear it next summer too.
In my imagination, she would have been throwing it on over shorts after a long day at the beach, but in reality she wore it with a Next denim jumpsuit she got for her birthday earlier this year. It gives a different twist on the jumpsuit and makes it an even more versatile item of clothing.
She also wore the jumpsuit with another seaside jumper I got in the Next sale, in nautical navy and cream stripes.
The outfit was topped off with either pink Crocs, her Gap grey and yellow sandals or her green Converse, depending on how much rain was falling at the time.
Who needs the sun to look good, eh?

    • Thanks very much. That’s very true! If you needed the sun to look the part, nobody in Britain would ever look the part! x
