Now here’s a sight you don’t see very often. My daughter in trousers.
My daughter likes skirts, dresses and shorts. She doesn’t like trousers. She last had a pair of jeans when she was 5 (I did make the mistake of buying her some after that, but she refused to wear them.)
These harems/ pyjama pants are from Next and they are so delicate and girly. They have a really lovely ditsy floral print in lots of muted colours. I’ve worn a couple of pairs of trousers in this style myself lately are they are so comfortable, plus the style is really flattering.
She hasn’t really got anything perfect to wear with them – I think they need a plain jumper or Tshirt in cream, dusky pink or a light green. Instead she’s got this multi-coloured pastel jumper from M&S. The jumper was a birthday present and we both really love it. Sometimes birthday presents from other people can be a bit risky, as my daughter (and I) has very specific tastes. She likes to be girly, but in a subtle way – no glitz or glamour (my work here is done).
The green Tshirt was a birthday present from her best friend from Next. It’s a bit bright for these trousers, but we love it because it looks just like my daughter! I really like the continuing trend for characters with glasses (which has lasted for two years and is still going strong) because it confirms to my daughter that glasses are cool! I’m aware that at some point she may not want to wear glasses any more as she will be too bothered about her appearance. I hope we can hold off on that for as long as possible.
The navy and yellow sandals are from Gap and she bought them herself with a voucher she got from her birthday. The trousers would also go very well with her new green Converse.
It makes a lovely change to see my daughter in trousers for once – and great that she actually likes them!
