My daughter got this Next biscuit design party/ prom dress for her birthday this year and has worn it to pretty much every party and trip to a restaurant since. It is a lovely shape for a party, but the biscuit design makes it age appropriate. I hate to see girls looking too grown up! It gets harder and harder to find age appropriate clothes as she gets older.
The dress has a built-in net underskirt to puff it out and a bright pink belt to nip it in at the waist.
As her birthday is in March, which was still most definitely winter this year, it started out with a vest underneath it, which didn’t look great!
In Barcelona she wore it with a pair of flamenco dressing up shoes (high heels, so she was very excited to be allowed to wear them!) and, unfortunately, blue stripy socks! Finding socks that look delicate enough to wear with dresses is never easy, but sometimes little girls need to wear them. My daughter has taken to wearing her ballet uniform socks a lot these days as they are pale pink with no pattern.
In Padstow it looked its absolute best. She wore it with a Next cotton cable cardigan in an unusual shade of green with a pink trim. I wasn’t sure if it would work, but it seemed to match perfectly. Worn with her little gold sandals from Next, bought for her cousin’s christening but now being worn as much as possible before the weather turns, she looked smart and girly. Absolutely beautiful.
The dress has shrunk a bit – the underskirt now sticks out of the bottom – and she has also grown a lot since she had it, so sadly I don’t think she will be able to wear it much longer. But she has really enjoyed it.
