  1. I’m guessing this is in Wales or the West Country somewhere? What a delightful scene. I always love a river barge. Looked into buying and living on one many years ago!

    • It’s actually Cheshire! My MIL has a boat moored here. We’ve had a couple of holidays on it in the past and I absolutely love it. Sadly the rest of my family don’t love it as much as I do.

  2. I always think it would be lovely to live on a boat, although I am sure the reality is a bit different. I love canal boats, so pretty. #MySundayPhoto

    • I love them too, it’s such a relaxing way of life. I definitely couldn’t cope with condensing my whole life into such a small space permanently though!

  5. Hi Sarah, a day messing about by the canal? Are you on a barging holiday? It does look a peaceful place to be.

  7. I love to watch the barges go by, but I’m not sure I’d want a holiday on one

    • I loved holidaying on one, it’s like you’re in another world.

  8. That’s so beautiful! Honestly though being around water at the moment just makes me want to dive in! Not such a great idea in the UK canals, you can swim in the French canals they’re really clean!

    • You definitely wouldn’t want to swim in a British canal, they’re filthy! My daughter fell in once, it was terrifying, but she was fine.

  9. I could probably do a canal trip, nice static water, get seasick if it moves too much #mysundayphoto

    • You do feel a little bit of motion – it’s weird when you get back on dry land – but probably not enough for seasickness.

  10. I love barges, many many years ago we actually thought about buying one to live on. We even found the perfect mooring which came with enough land for a caravan and a vegetable plot. It didn’t happen though, but my life would have probably turned out a lot different to how it is now!
Now, I have to make do with living next to a canal.

    • That sounds amazing to live on one and have a plot of land too! It’s nice that you get to live near the canal though.

  11. Barges are stunning. This looks like a perfect picture postcard. I don’t think I have ever been on a barge though x
