Project 365 2018 Week 13

Week 13 of 2018 – a quarter of the way through the year and the bathroom is finally finished!

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 84 – Sunday 25th March – after last week’s cancellation due to snow, we were able to have my daughter’s birthday party. We took 13 kids to a swimming pool 40 miles away, then had them back to our house for lunch – and they were no trouble at all! The weather finally warmed up and the guinea pigs got out on the grass for the first time in months, or the first time ever in Cedric’s case!

Day 85 – Monday 26th March – a frustrating day of work in which I didn’t get enough done due to very slow wifi. The bathroom floor tiles were going down – this is the cutting equipment.

Day 86 – Tuesday 27th March – my wifi was still playing up and I even ended up going to work at my mum’s for a while. Things still seem to be moving incredibly slowly on the bathroom. The floor tiles are down, but there’s no grout on either the walls or the floor.

Day 87 – Wednesday 28th March – the last day of term for my eldest and my daughter. Overnight, my Twitter followers rose to over 7,000, which sounds pretty good to me, although it’s nothing compared to the big bloggers. I’ve been on Twitter for just over six years and seem to gain a steady 1,000 followers a year. Big progress on the bathroom today – the tiling is finished and grouted and the shower head is up. The bathroom man is determined to finish by Easter (thank goodness!).

Day 88 – Thursday 29th March – the bathroom man made a really concerted effort to get finished. The shower and toilet are in (although neither have yet been used), the last little bit of tiling has been done and the shaver socket is in (so my toothbrush has been charged!), but he didn’t have enough time to get the sink in or get the radiator working. My husband, the younger kids and I went to a neighbour’s for dinner, which was a nice way to get the Easter holidays started. My eldest preferred to go to a party than hang out with us.

Day 89 – Friday 30th March – the bathroom is finished! The bathroom man came first thing to put the sink in and get the radiator working, even though it’s Good Friday. It is so nice to have it done. I can’t believe it’s the same room. It feels like a hotel bathroom at the moment. I’ll do a full post on it soon.

My eldest wanted to go shopping at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, so we all went down there. The traffic was pretty bad with people heading to Devon and Cornwall.

Day 90 – Saturday 31st March – it’s remarkable how often my younger son has to go to school on a Saturday morning. If it’s not rugby it’s football and if it’s not football it’s D of E. Today he went to do the walk that had already been rescheduled twice due to snow. The weather wasn’t a lot better today either – very wet and cold. This photo of parkrun doesn’t in any way do justice to how horrendous the weather or the course were.

    • Thanks very much, I’m so thrilled! I can’t even believe it’s the same room. We were pretty brave with the party as we don’t actually know most of the kids, but luckily they were all very good!

  4. Slow or no WiFi can be so frustrating. I always have a bit of a panic without it! Your bathroom looks so good and there is 0 signs of any kind of pink from your pics 🙂

    • The pink is well and truly gone! I’m so pleased with the bathroom. The wifi is still a bit crap – it’s been bad for a week now.

  8. Glad the bathroom is finished, who gets to use it first?
thats a good following, I am not one for collecting followers.
It has been bitterly cold here as well most of this week.

    • I had the first shower and it was very nice! I don’t actively collect followers on Twitter, but they’ve built up gradually over time.

  10. Can’t believe it your bathroom saga is finally over, but it looks great. Well done on gaining 7000 Twitter followers, I seem to be stuck on just over 5,000. They follow only to unfollow the next day, mostly the bloggers with big numbers, always want to ask them Why do you do that?! What’s the point? 🙂
You’re a hero to take 13 kids to a swimming pool.
Did Cedric enjoy the outing on the grass?

    • Thanks very much, the bathroom was worth the wait! My Twitter followers do fluctuate a bit – since it went over 7,000 it has gone up and down between 7,000 and 7,006, so there’s definitely some following and unfollowing going on! I don’t know what the point is either. I was slightly worried about taking that many kids to the swimming pool, but it went very well. Cedric loved his outing on the grass. It took him about 10 minutes before he realised he could eat it!

  11. Your bathroom is amazing Sarah, and what a nice treat getting it finished in time for the long weekend. Urgh what a pain having slow wifi, especially if you had to go to your mums to work. The guinea pigs look very happy on the grass x

    • Thanks very much, the guinea pigs were so happy! Sadly they’ve still only managed two days on the grass because then it got really wet. The bathroom really is amazing, I don’t think I’m ever going to tire of it. x

  12. The transformation of your bathroom is amazing! Bet you’re thrilled 🙂 Lovely to see the guinea pigs out on the grass, some warm weather would be most welcome here right now!

    • I’m so thrilled with the bathroom, I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of it. The guinea pigs have still only managed two days on the grass. Every time we think it’s starting to warm up, we either get torrential rain or it goes really cold again!
