Project 365 2018 Week 3

January is a pretty miserable time of the year and I’m definitely ready for the winter to be over, but the last couple of weeks seem to have flown by.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 14 – Sunday 14th January – my eldest and I went on a flying visit to London, especially to have a tour of Radio 1. It was really interesting to see where the programmes and the news come from. We glimpsed Matt Edmonson presenting his show and even went into the Live Lounge.

Day 15 – Monday 15th January – OK, I’m cheating a bit here. Rather than share another boring picture of something random from around my house, I thought I’d show you one of the photos I took in London yesterday. This was in Portobello Road, somewhere I’ve never visited before, despite being not that far from where I used to live in Hammersmith.

Day 16 – Tuesday 16th January – a busy, if slightly uninspiring, day of work. I started the day with a walk. I’m not sure why, but I always think pylons make for interesting photos – there’s a fair few of them on my Instagram!

Day 17 – Wednesday 17th January – it was a very cold run, but I finally feel as though my fitness is starting to come back after my injury.

Day 18 – Thursday 18th January – a busy day of work. Both boys were home late from school – one with a basketball match and one with a 6th form opening evening (it doesn’t seem a year since we were visiting his 6th form!). The guinea pigs chilled out in the kitchen. I can’t wait for it to be warm and dry enough for them to go out in the garden again.

Day 19 – Friday 19th January – work has been really busy lately, which is great. The only downside is that I end up doing housework at the weekend, which I hate. And after all these years I’ve finally accepted that I will never have enough work to justify the cost of a cleaner. On an unrelated note, I thought the hydrangeas in the garden looked very pretty.

Day 20 – Saturday 20th January – my son was up and out early for his first D of E session at school and it was a cold, damp and muddy morning at Parkrun. My daughter is going to a sleepover later – her first time with more than child. Fingers crossed they get some sleep!

    • It was really interesting, thanks! Would have been more people there on a weekday, but still good at the weekend. It’s amazing how much the hydrangeas changed in a couple of a days, I don’t suppose they will stay like that much longer!

    • The tour of Radio 1 was fantastic, thanks. Unfortunately my daughter stayed awake until 5.30, so she’s pretty exhausted today! ๐Ÿ™ x

  2. I never use to listen to the radio much but since becoming a Mum it is on a lot in my house so I bet the tour was really interesting. I am a radio 2 fan though. Hehe. #365

    • I tried to remain calm at Radio 1 and now think maybe I was too calm! I didn’t want to appear overexcited.
Unfortunately my daughter didn’t go to sleep until 5.30, so she’s not in the best of moods today!

  4. Love that you got to have a day in London with your eldest and sounds like a fab day. Great that you have lots of work on but boo to housework at the weekend. I agree that January is going fast but I am one of those strange people who love this month x

  5. how fab you got to spend the day 1 on 1 in london and a tour of the Radio 1 studios. I’ve increased the number of people I’m following on instagram and it means i’m missing out on a lot of #365ers posts during the week at the moment

    • I have notifications for some of my favourite people when they post on Instagram, so I don’t miss too many of their posts. It was great to visit Radio 1 and nice to spend time with just my eldest on his own.

  6. Sounds like you had a great time in London. The Portobello houses are so colourful. You look lovely in that photo. The guinea pigs are so cute, did you comb them before taking a photo?

    • Thanks very much! I can’t believe I’d never been to Portobello before. I didn’t comb the guinea pigs before the photo! The grey one never needs combing, but the long-haired one has to be combed every couple of days.

    • I think sleepovers are evil! My daughter was awake until 5.30. She was very proud of herself, but she certainly suffered for it later!
The D of E really is a good scheme. My eldest did his bronze with Explorers.

    • We were so lucky to tour Radio 1. I saw Broadcasting House on the news last year and my husband loved hearing where everything was in there! My guinea pigs are definitely cute ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I hope they got some sleep at the sleepover, although if its anything like the ones mine have, i doubt it. Good to hear that you feel your fitness is coming back. I know what you mean about sixth form, I can’t believe Lochi only has 6 months left, it only seems like yesterday he was starting.
