Project 365 2018 Week 1

Happy new year! Here we are in 2018 and my fifth consecutive year of Project 365! How did that happen?

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 1 – Monday 1st January – the new year is about getting fit for a lot of people. But for me, being fit is just a way of life. Coincidentally, I stumbled across this while downloading my run data from my TomTom watch. Not bad, eh?

Day 2 – Tuesday 2nd January – regular readers will know I’ve been desperate for a new ensuite since we moved into our house four years ago. The shower doesn’t work, the toilet doesn’t work and the bathroom is a horrible pink with all sorts of pipes exposed where repairs have been made over the years. This year, it’s finally going to happen! It will be some time next month, but the new bathroom stuff arrived today.

Day 3 – Wednesday 3rd January – the kids went back to school and I had lots of work. I wasn’t looking forward to getting back to normal, but I actually quite enjoyed it. It helps that we don’t have many after school activities this week, so that means we can ease back in more gradually. Storm Eleanor hit overnight…

Day 4 – Thursday 4th January – a busy day of work, juggling three clients and five jobs, but I managed a quick walk before school pick-up time.

Day 5 – Friday 5th January – it’s time to say goodbye. When it comes to Christmas, I’m pretty traditional – the tree goes up in mid-December and comes down on 5th January. I’m sad to see the back of it, the house looks so empty now.

Day 6 – Saturday 6th January – my husband said he would decorate my daughter’s room over Christmas, but we ran out of time. So he’s doing it during January instead, spending an hour or so on it every day after work. As a result, her drawers and bookshelves are on the landing (and, yes, they do still need decluttering!).

  3. Hooray for your new ensuite. I know how much you hate it at the moment! It sounds like you have some great plans for the beginning of the year with the bathroom & your girls room.
My two go back to school on Tuesday and I’m looking forward to getting into more of a routine. x

    • It feels like ages since my kids went back to school already! I think routine is good, even if it does get a bit tiring at times!
After all those years of waiting, I can’t believe the ensuite is finally going to happen soon! x

  6. Decluttering takes so long to get round to doesn’t it. I’ve still got the upstairs to do. Hope your ensuite change goes well. We changed our bathroom about 8 years ago because I hated the champagne colour and put in white. But the toilet always blocks because modern pipes are too rubbish and small for our system.

    • I hate decluttering, but it’s a necessary evil! Sorry to hear about your toilet. Our ensuite one gave up flushing altogether about six months ago, which is not great! Luckily we do have plenty of other toilets!

  7. Good luck with all the DIY and I look forward to seeing the transformations. i hadn’t heard about storm Eleanor, I was too busy watching the snowfall in Canada and plummeting temps, our news channels here are picky about what they focus on, not really balanced.

    • I think Storm Eleanor was pretty small fry compared to the weather in Canada. DIY is exhausting, but it will be so good when it’s all done!

  8. I know you have hated that ensuite. It must be a relief to know it is going. Well done on doing your daughter’s room too. My plan is to decorate H’s room this year.

    • It is such a relief to know the ensuite is going! My daughter wants her room the same colour again, but the woodwork has never been painted and we’ve moved the furniture round and got rid of some stuff, so it was still worth doing.

  11. I have big ideas in my head about redecoration and how it shouldn’t take too long, and then when reality hits it transpires that I live in cloud cuckoo-land! Glad you’re going to be getting a new ensuite, very exciting!

    • That’s so very true! I think the actual painting doesn’t take too long, it’s all the clearing stuff out that takes forever. I can’t wait to get my new ensuite!

  13. Don’t think I’ve ever been 20 in the fitness stakes! I don’t envy you with the ensuite we had our bathroom fitted before Christmas and it was rather stressful! I promised my eldest the bedroom would be decorated by the time she came back from uni in October, but it hasn’t happened yet…

    • I haven’t even considered the stress of the ensuite, I’m just excited that it’s going to be done! The builder has recommended we move out of our bedroom for a few days because of the dust, but there’s only a single bed in the spare room. I’m hoping that will be mine!
Good luck with the bedroom decorating.

  15. Well done on the fitness!

Looking forward to seeing what the ensuite looks like when its done.

We don’t celebrate Christmas but I always end up thinking the streets look depressing once all the decorations have come down!

    • I’m not really sure where that time has gone to!
My fitness age is better now than it would have been at 32. At 32 I’d just had my third child, so wasn’t running much, Staying fit is so much easier with big kids!
