Leotards for panto from Dance Gear

Regular readers will know that rehearsals are well underway for my daughter’s third panto. Although it’s a professional production, it’s at a small local theatre and budgets are tight. Not only do the girls have to share costumes with their opposite number in the other chorus, they also have to provide their own basic dancewear to wear for every performance.

They need to provide black and nude coloured leotards, natural coloured dance tights and black jazz shoes.  They wear their leotards under their costumes all they time and they basically preserve their modesty – some of those dance routines are very energetic indeed!

If you look up nude coloured leotards with most companies, you will find one design. Sometimes none at all. Which is why I’m very happy that Dance Gear offered to kit my daughter out in leotards for this year’s panto.

Because Dance Gear custom make all of their own brand leotards to order – so you can choose from a huge range of colours, fabrics and patterns. They actually have 80 different fabrics to choose from. So you might want a brightly coloured, patterned leotard in a shiny material. Or you might just want a really basic one in the most neutral colour possible. There are leotards with short sleeves, long sleeves, thin straps, high necks… Whatever leotard you can imagine, Dance Gear will make it. And they’ll make it very quickly too.

My daughter chose one of Dance Gear’s most basic leotards, the Leila leotard, a camisole leotard with thin straps. She will be wearing her leotards under a costume, possibly even two costumes, and hot stage lights. So she doesn’t need sleeves.

Having initially chosen the Leila in the neutral colour, she decided to go for it in the black too.

We placed our order on a Friday and received the leotards the very next day. The leotards are comfortable and well made.

I know what you’re thinking. Custom made leotards must be really expensive, right?

Not at all. The Leila leotard is just £12.60, which is a highly competitive price.

My daughter is very pleased with her leotards, and so am I. They are exactly what she needs for panto. Oh yes they are!

As well as their own designs, Dance Gear stocks a huge range of branded leotards, as well as dance shoes and accessories for children and adults.

We were sent two leotards by Dance Gear for the purposes of this review. All opinions are our own.

    • They’re definitely worth a look! We struggled to find one last year, so now we know to always check Dance Gear first. Good luck with the festivals!
