Project 365 2017 Week 34

It’s been a pretty good week, made all the better by my son’s GCSE results.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 232 – Sunday 20th August – my daughter finally got her wish to go to Swindon Oasis swimming pool. The guinea pigs enjoyed the grass.

Day 233 – Monday 21st August – we met up with my daughter’s best friend from panto at Croome in Worcestershire. Can you believe it’s less than four weeks until panto auditions?!

Day 234 – Tuesday 22nd August – by complete coincidence, all three of my kids were out with their own best friends at the same time. So I got to work in peace and enjoy my book with my lunch for the first time in over a month.

Day 235 – Wednesday 23rd August – my younger son started back at football training for the new season. The other two kids went to see Cheltenham Town play West Ham in the league cup. They played very well, but sadly lost 2-0.

Day 236 – Thursday 24th August – the big day! GCSE results day! We were very pleased with my son’s results.

Day 237 – Friday 25th August – I did far too many chores around the house, which always puts me in a bad mood. We did the dreaded school shoe shop, we went in at 5.30 and it was far less stressful than last year. Until we got home. Do you see the problem?

Day 238 – Saturday 26th August – a very warm morning at Parkrun. We’ve got a new course and I still haven’t quite come to terms with it. This is a warning to avoid obstacles on the course.

  1. Oh dear oh dear the mismatch shoes!! Took me a sec to spot it too. I can’t believe how strict the school clothes guidelines are either. My Mum is German and they don’t wear a uniform so she was forever getting me in trouble by sending me in all kinds of funky tights etc! #365

    • Ha ha, love that you used to go to school in funky tights! We didn’t have uniform in the 6th form and people dressed quite outrageously. My son will be dressing smarter for school than most people dress for work.

  2. Oh bugger! re the shoes, what a pain! I’m hoping to get my son’s feet measured the day before he goes back, I have shoes so fingers crossed the old or the new will be ok. Don’t tell me that about panto rehearsals, that’s come around way too quickly #365

    • Luckily it’s only panto auditions coming up, rehearsals won’t start until November. Hope you get Monkey’s school shoes sorted OK. I can’t believe the shoe shop didn’t notice they were selling us different shoes! I’m going to leave it to my husband to go in to complain.

  3. Oh wow! Nearly panto auditions already! It doesn’t seem that long until the panto finished. Christmas is coming. hehehe
Oops. About the shoes. They are very similar though. hehehe That sign at the park run did make me chuckle x

    • The shoes are pretty similar. I noticed the soles first. I’m glad I did because I’m not sure I would have noticed the actual shoes.
Rehearsals won’t start until November, so it’s still nearly three months until panto kicks in properly (just hoping my daughter gets in!).

  4. How annoying about the shoes! It took me a moment to notice. Another trip back to the shop I guess. Luckily H’s shoes still fit so we have been spared that shopping trip.

    • That’s good to have avoided the shoe shop this year! Both of my kids’ feet had grown and I had promised my daughter new shoes for her new school, whether or not they had grown. Need to get back to the shop asap before they sell the other ‘pair’!

  5. I guess someone else will have the opposite pair of shoes to those!

I stil need to get jogging trousers and wellies for N, plus still waiting on school uniform (hopefully his old will do him for a bit) because they didn’t have anything his size in, and PE shorts I’ve ordered from elsewhere. It’s been horrendous trying to buy uniform this year, now the supplier is only online. Their service has gone downhill, and the alternative is now Tesco, but the colour and quality of the jumpers, t-shirts and book bag are all shocking. They’re totally different colours to the royal blue and gold the school have. They certainly won’t last the 2 years and still look good like N’s have.

    • I’m hoping the other ‘pair’ of shoes is still at the shop to avoid further complications.
N’s uniform sounds like a right hassle. My daughter’s uniform is mainly from a uniform shop, with the sports kit online. Needless to say, her sports kit is much too big for her because we didn’t try it on.

  6. well done on your son’s GCSE results, whoops re the shoes, how did that happen, they’re usually very good checking you’ve a matching pair, hope you can rectify the matter

    • Thanks very much, we’re so pleased with the results! I have no idea how they made the mistake with the shoes, other than it was nearly 6pm and it was the men’s department rather than the kids’. Very annoying though!

  7. good grief at the uniform, not to mention the rules on clean shaven and acceptable hair, what ever happened to free thinking? But they are preparing to go out into the wider working world soon I suppose.
Oops at the shoes, glad you noticed before he wore them.
Gulp at how quick the panto is coming round, that reminds me I need to get our tickets while I can still get a bargain on them.

  8. What a nightmare with the shoes. How does that even happen these days? Our high school has very strict guidelines too. I didn’t have a uniform and think it’s a good thing x
