Project 365 2017 Week 31

It’s been a funny old week – a whole week without two of my kids while they were on Scout camp. I’m sure all parents can appreciate how strange that must feel.

Here’s our week in pictures…

Day 211 – Sunday 30th July – my husband rode in the Ride London 100 mile bike ride, and my eldest and I caught the train to London to see him finish.

Day 212 – Monday 31st July – we stayed over in a quirky hotel, the Good Hotel, with great views. I had to do a bit of work in the morning, then we headed back home.

Day 213 – Tuesday 1st August – I did a fair bit of work to keep me busy, but the house definitely feels quiet and lonely without the two kids here. This is my husband’s Ride London medal.

Day 214 – Wednesday 2nd August – with both my husband and son away, I woke up to an empty house! Luckily I had work to keep me busy. We finally moved the guinea pigs into their new hutch. Their old one is going rotten, but I don’t like the new one because it seems a bit small.

Day 215 – Thursday 3rd August – I’m really looking forward to my kids getting home now. I’m spending all my time scouring the Scout Facebook group for photos of them. I didn’t see a single photo of my daughter today, which started me worrying. She did so well to actually go on the camp, but she might struggle with being away for so long. There are some advantages to the kids being away – I finished my books for work in record time this month.

Day 216 – Friday 4th August – I saw so many photos of my daughter on the camp today and she looked so happy. I did a lot of jobs I didn’t want to do – hoovering, bathroom cleaning and weeding. The hydrangeas are looking pretty good in the garden.

Day 217 – Saturday 5th August – my kids are home later today! I can’t wait to see them. I did my first Parkrun in three weeks. There’s a new route now, which I’m not too sure about. Also, I’m not sure why I decided to hold up my finish token for this photo!

  4. Oh gosh I totally get how odd it must be especially when at one point you had them all gone! I would find it very weird but mine are still so little. Glad you had plenty to occupy yourself with. #365

  6. Ahh it must be such a relief to have them home, how strange for you to end up with an empty house one day! Your hydrangeas are doing well, mine are starting to look as if they’ll be over soon.

  8. Well done on the 100km, that’s a brilliant achievement! Our hydrangeas have bloomed too, I love that they need no care whatsoever. Saw that your kiddies are back and full of smiles, hope they loved it 🙂

  9. I can totally relate to that feeling when your kids go away. We have scout camp in a few weeks. Whilst it is only 4 nights. it will be the longest time Katie has been away from us. She is so excited, and I have planned a few nice things for us to do when she is away. Hywel ran his first park run on Saturday and he was chuffed to come 12th out of about 90 runners. Well done to your hubby for cycling 100 miles, that is a huge achievement x
