Betty Box monthly treats for teen girls

Regular readers will know that I finally had the dreaded puberty talk with my daughter earlier this year. Yes, I probably should have done it sooner, but actually it felt like a good time for both of us.

I feel that periods are probably still a couple of years into the future for her, partly because of her body shape and partly because I was a fairly late starter myself. But we did agree that she should be prepared with a couple of sanitary towels in her school bag from when she starts secondary school. Which is in a few weeks!

So it was perfect timing that Betty got in touch to ask if we’d like to try out their ‘Betty Box’ period subscription box for girls. (It’s the teenage version of the Pink Parcel, for anyone who has come across that before.)

It’s a box containing sanitary towels or tampons (or both), as well as some little treats. You pay a subscription and you get a new box, with new treats, for every month.

Now I’m no maths expert, or indeed no period expert, but it looks like there are enough sanitary towels in the box to last the month. Yes, as my daughter is very young, I thought that sanitary towels would be a good place to start. She can of course move onto tampons when she’s ready. And they’re not any old sanitary towels either – you can choose the brand you want and even the absorbency, so it really is just right for you!

There’s also a little cotton drawstring bag to keep your sanitary towels discreetly in your school bag. Perfect!

And what about the treats? Well, they’re very nice. Not my cup of tea exactly, but I’m a 43 year old woman who doesn’t care much for grooming. But my daughter loves doing her hair and loves nail varnish, so they were very good treats indeed!

Inside the box there was a body scrub, body milk, face wash, springy hairbands, a lovely mint nail varnish, deep conditioning pack, a delicate bracelet and some candy kittens!

Your first box is £6.99 and subsequent boxes are £10.50 per month. As you can see, you easily get £10.50’s worth of stuff in the box! You can create your perfect box here. You can even select from one of three dates in the month to receive your box. And if you decide you don’t want to receive Betty Box any more, you can cancel your subscription at any time.

It is a lovely treat for girls and my daughter would happily receive it every month!

We were sent a Betty Box for the purposes of this review. All opinions are our own.

When you look at the price of sanitary pads this is a bit of a bargain. x

  2. This is a very nice idea. There are a lot of pre-teens and late bloomer teens who I’m sure are anxious about that first period. What better way to ease their mind, right. The packaging is so neat. Very adorable. I bet every girl would love to have one. Your girl probably can’t wait to have one delivered every month.

    • Thanks very much! I think it’s a great idea and my daughter was very pleased with her box of goodies. I think having all the nice stuff softens the reality of getting sanitary towels, which can seem like a pretty scary thing.
