Project 365 2017 Weeks 25 & 26

It’s been an incredibly busy couple of weeks and we’re halfway through the year already! This year really is flying by. Here’s our fortnight in pictures…

Day 169 – Sunday 18th June – while my husband trains for the Three Peaks, my younger son, daughter and I joined him for a walk up the hill. Sadly my eldest, who is also doing the Three Peaks, couldn’t go because he had got badly sunburnt the day before while he was camping. Walking, Climbing, Hill, Husband, Son, 365 Day 170 – Monday 19th June – my son’s first day without GCSEs or school! Needless to say, he got up late. And the weather just gets hotter and hotter. Heatwave, Weather, 365 Day 171 – Tuesday 20th June – I thought life would get easier once the GCSEs were over, but it’s harder to work with my son at home. I took him out to ask about a part-time job and dropped him off for a haircut. I took this photo of the hydrangeas in the garden. They nearly died a few weeks ago, but we brought them back to life. Hydrangeas, Flowers, Garden, 365 Day 172 – Wednesday 21st June – my daughter started the day with a fun swimming gala and I went along to watch. Yes, she is swimming while holding a bucket. She won this leg of the relay. Swimming, Swimming gala, Daughter, 365 Day 173 – Thursday 22nd June – a couple of weeks ago, this would have been considered hot. Today it felt cold and it was very welcome. My daughter had her open day for her new school and she enjoyed it so much. Temperature, Weather, Car, 365 Day 174 – Friday 23rd June – my daughter had her final primary school athletics tournament against other schools. Although they never do very well, it is always one of the highlights of my daughter’s year. Here she’s running the final leg of the relay, in which her team came fourth out of five. Both of my boys went camping today, to different places. Daughter, Running, Athletics, 365 Day 175 – Saturday 24th June – we went to see Little Mix! They were playing at the Gloucester Rugby stadium, which has a small number of concerts a year, but never anything current. The tickets were a present for my daughter’s birthday and I’m so glad we got them as the show was brilliant. Little Mix, Concert, Gloucester, 365 Day 176 – Sunday 25th June – my daughter’s dance show. This year she was only in one dance as she does more classes at her other dance school now. This meant I watched 50 dances just to see her dance once, then I spent five hours in a noisy dressing room chaperoning kids. This is her hair, which is in a ponytail because it’s so long that she kept standing on it during one of the moves! Dance show, Daughter, Hair, Dancer, 365 Day 177 – Monday 26th June – my son had his prom. He wasn’t actually looking forward to it that much, but he looked very smart and grown up in his suit. Prom, Son, Suit, 365 Day 178 – Tuesday 27th June – my eldest’s 16th birthday! It wasn’t the most exciting of days, but it was relaxing and I think he enjoyed it. 365, Birthday, Son, 16th birthday, Pumba Day 179 – Wednesday 28th June – yesterday was my daughter’s final primary school sports day. I left just before the end, as it was my son’s birthday, and missed her receiving a prize for honesty in sport. Certificate, Award, Sports day, Daughter, 365 Day 180 – Thursday 29th June – my son went for an induction at what we hope will be his new school for 6th form. Here’s hoping he gets good GCSE results! We packed for my daughter’s first ever Scout camp. Daughter, Scout camp, Rucksack, 365 Day 181 – Friday 30th June – I ran 70 miles in June, the most I’d run in any month so far this year. Both my eldest and my daughter went off on separate camps. Sadly, my daughter was very upset to be going and we’re not sure why. I hope she will be OK! Running, Miles, Distance, 365 Day 182 – Saturday 1st July – I woke up early worrying about my daughter on camp, but I texted the leader and apparently she’s OK. I came 81st in Parkrun this week, which is pretty normal for me – my position varies a lot, although my time doesn’t vary much.

Parkrun, Running, Finish token, 365

  1. Hope they enjoyed their camping, Bob was away the other week with the Scouts as well.
Lovely when you get awards for their achievements.
Sun burn is not something we have to worry about very often in this country but it has been way to warm.
    Happy belated birthday.

  2. Hope your daughter enjoys her camp in the end. I used to love going with Guides. I remember dance shows of old – I only did ballet at the end, but still had to sit there amongst all the others rushing from one dance style to the next.

    • The dance show was SOOO long. My poor daughter didn’t manage to complete her camp because she’d hurt her finger. Hoping she copes better with her big camp in the summer.

  6. Oh wow, you really have been busy! We’re having that sort of a month as well, I’ll be ready for a rest when it’s over. I’m a bit sad that there needs to be an award for honesty in sport, when did it stop being the norm? Well done to your daughter for winning it though.

    • It’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Roll on August! They celebrate six values in sport these days. I guess it’s a way for kids who aren’t brilliant at sport to win too. (Although my daughter is pretty good at sport!) x

    • It’s actually been a struggle to fit much work in! ‘Luckily’ I haven’t had a lot on lately, although not lucky for my finances!

  11. I felt the same tin the 22nd – it was normal weather again, cloudy and about 20 fish degrees and after all that heat it was very welcome indeed!
Your son’s suit is very dapper and I hope he had a lovely birthday (Yay for Pumba!). Well done on your running total for the months . Little Mix sounds like fun – my boys enjoy their songs x
