Now is it the tree with no leaves or the empty sports pitch (….because all activities have shut down until New Year)? Regardless I’m going to take a guess this was taken early in the morning.
December 18, 2016
It was actually at about 3.40pm and I was feeling miserable that it was already going dark! It was the trees I wanted to capture and wasn’t happy that the sports pitches were ruining my photo!
December 18, 2016
Lovely shot. Very peaceful. Was it taken on an early morning walk?
December 18, 2016
Thanks very much. It was actually the afternoon and I couldn’t believe how early it was going dark!
December 18, 2016
Beautiful photo x
December 18, 2016
Thank you! I thought it looked very bleak and wintry.
December 18, 2016
What a nice tree. I think it would look better with twinkly lights and baubles though 🙂 #MySundayPhoto
December 18, 2016
I think you’re right! I took it because it all looked so bleak and wintry.
December 18, 2016
Lovely shot Sarah, at first I thought it was your Parkrun course. As it looks like ours. I hate the dark evenings as the kids love to run after school and it is always a mad rush to get changed and out before the darkness arrives. Not long now until we are heading back to Summer 🙂
December 19, 2016
I hate the dark evenings too! It’s so hard to get out after school. I can’t wait for spring!
December 18, 2016
That’s a sign of Winter, empty trees and empty fields.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
Thank you for linking up and supporting My Sunday Photo this year.
December 19, 2016
Thank you! It’s definitely very wintry.
Merry Christmas!
December 18, 2016
I am hating how it gets dark so early. My kids like to burn off some energy after our evening meal but it’s way too dark for them to go out then. I think trees are amazing, look how bleak and dead this tree looks without it’s leaves, it’s hard to believe that in a few months time it will start springing into life again.
Merry Christmas to you and your family xx
December 19, 2016
I can’t wait for the trees to start springing into life again! There is something beautiful about bare trees, but they are pretty bleak 🙁
December 18, 2016
This is such an “England in Winter” photo! 🙂 Lovely atmospheric shot! 🙂
December 19, 2016
Isn’t it just? I was feeling miserable about the dark and cold and this seemed to sum it up perfectly.
December 18, 2016
That just screams December, such a winter scene and so calming and beautiful.
December 19, 2016
Thanks very much! I’m hoping for some more cheerful photos soon!
December 18, 2016
I love this! I was singing bleak mid winter earlier and this shouts the scene for it! Brilliant #mysundayphoto

It gets so dark so early now….I can’t wait for the summer. hehehe

Great photo, I like the contrast of the striking tree against the grey sky. Also, you can still see the red around the base of the tree from the autumn leaves, fabulous.
