Walking boots from Outdoor Look

My eldest loves nothing more than hiking. He’s climbed Snowdon six times, he did a 30 mile hike on Scout camp last year and he did an 18 mile night hike with Explorers in horrendous rain earlier this year. He is just about to do his final expedition for his DofE Bronze award and is climbing Ben Nevis in a few weeks (eek!).

Good walking boots are absolutely essential for him. He had a good pair, but my son has done nothing but grow since last summer and was in need of a new pair, so I was very pleased when Outdoor Look contacted me to ask if I would like to review something from their range.

Outdoor Look is a nationwide retailer of outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment. Most importantly for me, they had a very good range of men’s walking boots. I wanted to surprise my son, so chose something I thought he would like (slightly risky as he has a lot of criteria to take into account!). I went for the Hi-Tec Jura waterproof walking boot, which is currently on offer at less than half price.

When the boots arrived, I’m pleased to say my son was very pleased with them. The first thing we noticed about them was how light they are. They’re nicely padded for comfort and have a very sturdy, moulded lightweight sole.

He found them just as comfortable as he’d hoped on a walk through the forest. There were definitely no blisters! And there were no damp feet when he walked through the mud.

When he climbs Ben Nevis, there is likely to be snow on top, so he will be taking crampons with him. It was essential to him that the crampons fit his new boots and I’m pleased to say that they did.

My son would definitely recommend these boots and will be taking a look at Outdoor Look next time he needs some new outdoor equipment.

Now he’s looking forward to putting the boots to the test for his final DofE expedition and climbing Ben Nevis.

  2. They look like they’ll be perfect for Ben Nevis. I’m going to google what crampons are in a bit 🙂 I hadn’t realised he’d done Snowdon 6 times. That’s so impressive!

    • He tested them on DofE at the weekend and he was very pleased with them, so they’re ready for Ben Nevis now! Crampons are spiky things you strap to your shoes so you can walk/ climb more safely in snow and nice. I only recently learned this!
Yes, he’s done Snowdon six times, he absolutely loves it! Even his brother and sister have done it three times. There’s only me who doesn’t like it!
