School uniform from Trutex

When it comes to school uniform, I normally buy Marks & Spencer. It’s good quality and lasts well. But regular readers will know my boys have been doing a lot of growing recently and have needed new school trousers. So I was very happy to be offered some school uniform from Trutex to try.

Did you know that Trutex is the leading brand in school uniform and school sportswear in the UK? Trutex has been going for 150 years and all of their uniform is built to last – very useful for passing on to younger brothers and sisters!

We tried the flat front trouser, in grey and age 12 for my younger son and in black and age 14 for my eldest. The trousers look very smart and come with an essential internal waist adjuster (very important for my tall and slim younger son). The boys were also pleased to see they come with a belt, although I suspect they will soon start forgetting to put the belt on due to sheer laziness!

We also tried a twin pack of long sleeve non-iron white shirts in age 13 for my younger son. Although the boys go to different schools, my younger son hasn’t had any new shirts of his own as he has inherited his brother’s, so it was nice for him to get some shirts of his own. Non-iron shirts are essential in my book as I don’t iron anything! The shirts can also go in the tumble drier. I’ve never tumble dried shirts myself, but it’s useful to know it can be done in an emergency.

Both the trousers and the shirts come in a range of colours to cover every possible uniform. They both washed very well and I’m pleased to say they really didn’t need ironing!

Trutex stocks pretty much everything you could need for school – with sizes ranging from age 3 up to large adults’ sizes. Sizes are given in cms and inches, as well as a recommended age, to make it easier to find the right one. (Although I should have looked at these a bit more carefully myself, as my eldest has recently had a massive growth spurt and the age 14 trousers were a bit tight on him, although the length was just about OK.)

We’re very pleased with our Trutex uniform and would definitely consider shopping with Trutex again. To find your nearest stockist of Trutex school uniform, check the website.

We were given two pairs of boys’ school trousers and a twin pack of shirts for the purposes of this review. All opinions are our own.

  1. Anything non-iron always grabs my attention. I’m now always on the look out for trousers that won’t wear away on the knee with all of Zs sliding about! I’ve never heard of this company before but I might have a look at their range!

    • I must say the boys haven’t tested their trousers with sliding about/ falling over while playing football etc, but the material is very good quality and much thicker than we’re used to. I’m confident they would survive longer than most school trousers!

    • That’s great to hear how hardwearing they are as we haven’t had the chance to fully put them through their paces yet! They certainly look and feel better quality than other trousers – definitely like they would last well.
