Review: Shoes from Charles Clinkard

Regular readers will know that earlier this year I took voluntary redundancy and started work as a freelance copywriter/ PR/ proofreader/ social media consultant. With my new working life, came a whole new working wardrobe (OK, it was one outfit, I might need to consider adding to that soon).

My work shoes were quirky and individual (a bit like their owner), but also not very sturdy and most definitely NOT FOR AUTUMN. Or winter. So I was very pleased when high street shoe retailer Charles Clinkard asked if I would like to try a pair of shoes or boots for autumn. Perfect timing!

They have a huge range of boots and shoes, not just for women, but for men and children too, including lots of major brands. I chose a pair of  ‘Elaine’ boots from the Gabor range of boots on the site. They’re smart, practical and understated – ideal for work. My kids said they look like ‘men’s shoes’, but in my book that is pretty much perfect. I’m not a girly girl. I can’t cope with heels, I walk long distances and I’m hard on shoes, so these ticked all the boxes for me.

I placed the order on a Tuesday evening and went for the standard (free) delivery option – you can pay to have them delivered quicker. I was given an estimated arrival time of about a week, which was fine by me. So I was very pleasantly surprised when they arrived on the Thursday morning, less than 48 hours after I’d ordered them! Excellent service!

So how are the shoes? Well, they look smart and discreetly fashionable and are ideal for work. Even better, they’re very comfortable! I expected that ‘new shoe’ stiffness when I first put my feet into them, but I didn’t have that at all. So I’m very pleased!

If you’re looking for new shoes for yourself, your partner or your kids, I would definitely recommend you take a look at Charles Clinkard.

I was sent a pair of shoes for the purposes of this review. All opinions and photos are my own.
