MAD Blog Awards – time to nominate!

It’s that time of year again already – blogging award season! Last year I was shocked, excited and above all humbled to be a finalist in the Schooldays category of the MAD Blog Awards. I just couldn’t believe enough people had even heard of my little old blog, let alone liked it enough to nominate it for an award.

Guess what? I’d love to make it again!

There are so many amazing blogs out there – well-written blogs, funny blogs, moving blogs, honest blogs… So many that deserve your nominations. But if my blog has ever made you laugh, cry, shake your head in recognition or sigh with relief that you don’t have three tweens, I’d really like you to consider nominating me.

I blog about the ‘small stuff of family life’ – the ups, the downs, the laughs, the tears and the pride. I have three amazing kids and they keep me in blogging material pretty much every day.

‘The small stuff of family life’ is big. Huge. There is so much to write about. I’ve written about school, sport, siblings, fussy eaters, holidays and moving house. Twice.

This is just a fraction of what  I’ve covered over the last year:

I’ve had a good old rant about selfish, thoughtless people who park on the zigzags outside school

I’ve pondered on those split-second decisions that change the course of a life

I’ve moved house and have shared lots of my experiences of decorating and learning to love DIY

I felt sad to see the back of my old bedroom

I’ve shared some stresses of day-to-day life when I just have too much on my plate

We struggled to keep a secret from Grandma

I’ve considered the way forward for my younger son’s education

I’ve watched my son struggle to play rugby and fight for a big win

My daughter brought me a little bit of joy when my boys were being grumpy

I’ve seen my daughter finally conquer her fears of foreign holidays

I’ve got cross about my son not being eligible for free kids’ prescription sunglasses

And my kids did me proud with a sponsored silence for Children in Need

Above all, I’ve shared my love and pride of the three special people at the heart of my blog  – my big boymy younger son and my gorgeous little girl.

There are lots of categories in the MAD Blog Awards – and lots that don’t apply for me. I won’t be picking up any prizes for my photography or my craft ‘skills’. I’m not pregnant and I don’t have a baby.

But I really would appreciate nominations in some of the other categories. Who would have ever thought I would be a contender for home and interiors blog a year or even a few months ago? But I’ve worked hard on my house and found I’ve actually enjoyed it! If you enjoy my writing, I make you laugh or you just think I’m the best blog ever (I can dream, can’t I?), there are categories for those too.

But, above all, there’s the schooldays category. That really is MY category. We’re not just talking a reception kid and a pre-schooler here. I’ve got three kids in school – year 3, year 5 and year 8. When it comes to school, I’ve pretty much been there, done that, got the Tshirt and blogged about it.

So if you feel like it. No pressure. I’d be ever so grateful. Just a teeny weeny nomination for me.
