I’ve had it in mind to take part in Project 365, hosted by The Boy and Meย for a long time now. Basically you take a photo every day and you share it.
I love taking photos. I’m a parent blogger who takes lots of photos of her kids. But I am also a parent blogger who never shares recognisable photos of her kids on her blog. Which is why I’ve never taken part in 365 before. It didn’t seem to make sense for me.
But nearly a year ago, I started using Instagram (sarahmo3w) and it changed the way I saw photography and the world. I started taking photos every day and seeing beauty in things like clouds and trees, as well as random and quirky images in both nature and the man-made world, which I’d never taken notice of before. I started using my phone to take more photos than my camera.
And I realised maybe I could take part in 365 after all.
So without further ado (and with a faithful promise that I won’t write such a long introduction in future), I give you my Project 365, week 1โฆ
Day 1 – Wednesday 1st January – the year starts as it ended – with torrential rain (view from my bedroom window)
Day 2 – Thursday 2nd January – my daughter starts work on the Paint it yourself Gromit she got for Christmas
Day 3 – Friday 3rd January – flooding in our local park
Day 4 – Saturday 4th January – getting prepared for moving house next week!

I’m so pleased that you are doing this, I hope you enjoy it. We have two Gromits to do but the boys are taking their time to plan their designs. I think your outdoor shots sum up this week.
January 4, 2014
Thanks, Nikki! I’m going to give it a go! The Gromit is being decorated like Jack with the union jack. Daddy is helping to keep it tidy. It’s still got a long way to go. Look forward to seeing how your boys get on with theirs.

January 4, 2014
How exciting your move is coming up Sarah, bet you can’t wait! Looks like you’ve had bad flooding too – we’re near a river that’s burst its banks twice recently. So sad to see although we’re not affected thankfully. Nice to see you join 365 – I’m a newbie too!
January 4, 2014
Good luck with the move, we have lots of re decorating projects planned this year
January 4, 2014

Yukky weather, we have a similar view from our bedroom and I too like the Gromit! I think we may need to invest in more rainy day activities for my 3!
January 5, 2014

January 5, 2014

January 5, 2014
Wow your park looks more flooded than our local one
January 5, 2014
Cannot wait to see the finished Gromit – was it inspired by the ones you saw in Bristol?
January 5, 2014
Your local park looks like ours ๐ I’m starting project 365 for the first time too and aim to make it less about the children and more about the things around me and me! I’m looking forward to the challenge ๐
January 5, 2014
Great Pics! I’m new to the 365 project to! I love your philosophy of looking for the beauty and the unusual in everything around you, something I try to do too!
January 5, 2014
Thanks very much, everyone! It’s great to know I’m not the only newbie here! Glad to hear you’re trying to do it without too many kid photos too, 76 Sunflowers.
Yes, I decided to give it a go, The Boy and Me! Fingers crossed I can keep it up.
The Gromit was my daughter’s Christmas present from my mum – she bought it all the way back in summer when we were all addicted to Gromit hunting! The finished piece is going to be based on Jack – the union jack Gromit. She’s doing it very carefully with Daddy’s help. I will definitely post a pic of the finished article when it’s done!
January 5, 2014
I had almost the same thing holding me back from 365 as you – I don’t post any photos of my daughter on my blog… and the same Instagram epiphany! I’m easing myself in with a Project52 for this year though!! Love that Gromit shot – a work of art in progress! #365
January 5, 2014
The Gromit looks fab! Will you post a photo of it when it is completed please?
January 5, 2014
Even though I don’t like the fact that your park flooded, the picture is excellent. And I too love Instagram and my phone for capturing the everyday and simple moments that are so fun to share.

I want a paint it yourself Gromit now! ๐ xx
January 6, 2014
Some lovely photos, I have only just joined instagram, finally worked it out on my phone.
I love the idea of the paint your own Gromit’s, the huge models of Gromit’s around Bristol looked wonderful.
Wishing you a quick and stress free as possible with your move, hope soon you will be settled in your new home.
I am joining in with the #Project365 for the first time, thank goodness for phones with cameras as no idea where my actual camera even is, Sadie
January 6, 2014
Perfect photos to show your week – rain outside and busy inside! I’m starting 365 this week too *gulp* ๐

Oh my word, I want a gromit or even 2 they look so cool, good luck with the move xxx
January 10, 2014
Love the Gromit! We’re moving house too in the next few weeks so our house at the moment feels like a bomb site. I can’t wait to get the keys to the new house so i can go buy paint and start decorating!
Re: the 365 project, I sometimes use the photo prompts from Fat Mum Slim http://fatmumslim.com.au/happy-new-year-now-get-camera-january-photo-day-thing/
as I find they stretch my photography as I try to come up with a different take on each prompt.
Good luck with your move ๐ xx
January 10, 2014
Lots of rain there, it seems to be a theme this week, good luck with the move!
January 12, 2014
Thanks very much, ladies ๐ The move went well and glad you all like the Gromit!
Good tip about Fat Mum Slim, Michelle. I’ve seen a lot of people join in with it, but have never done it myself.
