What she wore – Smart winter day out

This is a really smart winter outfit. My daughter wore it to go and see Father Christmas on the steam train just before Christmas, but it would be nice for a party or any sort of winter day out. As long as it’s not in the countryside! Practical, it isn’t.

The dress was from Joules and my mum bought it for her for Christmas 2011. As it was quite expensive and, knowing she wasn’t going to wear it often, she bought her a bigger size so it would last two winters. She normally wears it over a purple long-sleeved Tshirt from H&M, with dark grey school tights and her pink Clarks brogues. It goes well with shiny, black school shoes too.

I love this smart duffel coat with I got from the Next winter sale in 2011 for her to grow into. It goes better with dresses than trousers, which suits my daughter fine as she doesn’t wear trousers very often, anyway.

An author and illustrator complimented my daughter on her coat. He says he remembers nice children’s clothes then includes them in his books! So it may even appear in print one day.

It isn’t waterproof, so she hasn’t worn it as much as I would have liked. But it IS warm and machine washable! It’s also quite big on her, so I hope she will get another winter’s wear out of it.

  3. Thanks very much, ladies 🙂
It is a bit Lola isn’t it, Sonya? I like her to look a bit quirky and cute while we can get away with it. I’m probably on borrowed time, but we’re hanging on in there for now!
